Real Bride Priscilla: Customising Her Dream Wedding Dress from Our Collection

Sometimes finding your dream wedding dress isn't about designing something entirely new. It's about discovering a gown you already love and making a few thoughtful changes to suit you.

For Priscilla, a bride from Darwin, that meant choosing a wedding dress from Envious Bridal's existing collection, personalising the neckline and having the gown made to her measurements.

Her experience is a lovely example of how a small design modification can make an existing wedding dress feel more personal.

Finding Her Wedding Dress Online

Priscilla began her wedding dress search by visiting bridal boutiques in Darwin. Although she tried on several gowns, she hadn't found a design that felt quite right.

Continuing her search online, she discovered the KALLITA wedding gown from Envious Bridal's collection.

With its delicate long lace sleeves, intricate beaded bodice, soft tulle skirt and romantic silhouette, KALLITA had many of the details Priscilla had been hoping to find.

There was just one element she wanted to change.

The Original KALLITA Wedding Dress Design

KALLITA is a romantic long-sleeved wedding gown featuring an intricately embellished lace bodice, illusion neckline and flowing A-line skirt.

Its original design includes a plunging V-neckline, delicate lace appliqués, faux pearl detailing, and a subtle shimmer through the skirt.

"I particularly love the detailed artistry and delicate beading of the bodice. The whole dress to me is delicate and elegant - a showstopper without being gaudy. I also love the sleeves and again, how delicate and beautiful the artistry is on them."

At the back, sheer illusion fabric and floral lace detailing are finished with pearl buttons.

Priscilla loved the gown's overall design, particularly the delicate embellishments and feminine silhouette. Rather than creating a completely different wedding dress, she wanted to preserve the features she loved while making one adjustment to the neckline.

A Small Customisation: Changing the Neckline

Priscilla requested that the original plunging V-neckline be changed to a more classic sweetheart neckline.

This adjustment allowed her to retain the character of the KALLITA gown while choosing a neckline that better reflected her personal preference.

The long lace sleeves, detailed bodice, flowing skirt, and other signature elements of the design remained part of her wedding dress.

This is one of the advantages of customising an existing wedding dress design. When you already love the silhouette, fabric and overall appearance of a gown, you may only need one or two modifications to make it feel right for you.

Customisation doesn't always need to involve a complete redesign.

 

Custom Sizing for an Interstate Bride

Because Priscilla was based in Darwin, her initial conversations with Envious Bridal took place remotely.

Her measurements fell between standard dress sizes, so she chose to have the gown made to her individual measurements rather than selecting a standard size.

As it happened, she was planning a family visit to Perth shortly after placing her order. During her visit, she came into our Subiaco boutique, where we were able to meet her and take her measurements in person.

This was a helpful opportunity, although brides ordering from interstate do not necessarily need to visit our Perth store.

Custom sizing helps account for individual body measurements during production, but it does not guarantee that every final adjustment can be avoided.

Priscilla's Experience Ordering Her Wedding Dress Online 

Ordering a wedding dress online, particularly one being made to individual measurements, can raise understandable questions about fit, quality and delivery.

Priscilla was open about the concerns she had before placing her order, and what ultimately gave her the confidence to proceed.

"I was absolutely hesitant about ordering my wedding dress online from just seeing online photos of the dress and not the real dress in person. I made sure to read Google Reviews to make sure it was a real store for starters! Then, I was nervous about the fit of the dress and whether it would arrive in time. But, I loved the dress so much that I was willing to give it a go, and I'm so glad I did. It definitely helped that after making the original purchase, I was able to travel (for separate reasons) to Perth and find the time to pop past the store and meet the owner in person. And although the timing did end up being a bit tight, I still had the dress of my dreams in time to have it hemmed up and ready to go for my big day!"

Her experience reflects the considerations many interstate brides have when purchasing a wedding dress remotely. Although Priscilla was able to visit our Subiaco boutique during a separate trip to Perth, her initial decision to order was made online.

Her experience also highlights the importance of allowing sufficient time for production, delivery and any final alterations.

From the Original Design to Her Finished Gown

With the neckline modification and measurements confirmed, Priscilla's customised KALLITA gown moved into production.

The finished dress retained the intricate lace and pearl embellishments she had originally fallen in love with, together with her preferred sweetheart neckline.

Once production was complete, we shared photographs of the finished gown with Priscilla before arranging delivery to Darwin.

Her experience also illustrates why allowing sufficient time for production, freight and any final adjustments is important when ordering a wedding dress, particularly from interstate.

Although her delivery timeline became tighter than anticipated, her gown and veil arrived in time for her wedding preparations.

The Final Fit 

Priscilla was pleased with how her custom-sized gown fit. In her feedback, she said the only adjustment she needed after receiving it was to have the hem lifted.

Hem adjustments can still be necessary with a custom-sized gown, particularly once the bride's wedding shoes and preferred finished length are confirmed.

Today, Envious Bridal includes custom sizing in the custom gown price, while any final alterations are separate.

For Priscilla, the finished gown was everything she had hoped for: delicate, elegant and distinctly her own.
