Did you know Paris had initially planned to wear 10 wedding dresses during her 3-day wedding festivities but ended up wearing just 6 of them?

“Paris is a very visual person," said stylist Sammy K.

“I decided to print out over 300 images for her. She grabbed a Sharpie, circled what she liked and didn’t like. After extensive meetings going through it all, we started narrowing down what would make sense for every event and what would be functional. For the ceremony, we wanted something long, beautiful, and inspired by all the classic wedding inspiration that we’d compiled.”

To finish off the incredible look, a long and dramatic veil which featured matching floral embroidery work at the hem of the veil and scattered throughout for a truly romantic look.

"I wanted something that was timeless, elegant, chic, and iconic, and I was so happy." Said Paris in an interview with Vogue. "I love how it turned out. I wanted something that was timeless, elegant, chic, and iconic, and I am so happy,"

Kate Middleton’s 2011 wedding to Prince Williams made headlines around the world and has become an iconic design serving inspiration for many brides-to-be.

Kate wanted her wedding dress to be a combination of traditional and modern which she believed Alexander McQueen could deliver her vision into her gown.

Kate’s dress – specifically the bodice was inspired by the Victoria practice of corsetry – pulling in at the waist and padded slightly below the mid-section.

The dress comprised of;

  • 58 gazar and organza covered buttons on the back of the dress
  • The lace appliques on bodice and skirt of the dress were handmade by the Royal School of Needlework which the dressmakers used the Carrickmacross lace making technique.
  • Hand-cut lace flowers, including roses, thistle, daffodils, and shamrocks, were created individually, and added onto ivory silk tulle.
  • The bodice, skirt, and underskirt trim were created out of an English and French Chantilly lace. The French Chantilly lace was the only fabric not sourced or supplied by a British company.

Price tag: $434,000 USD (approximately $623,000 AUD)

Kate also had a second wedding gown for after the ceremony wear – a custom designed and made minimalistic style that featured a sweetheart neckline, an A line silhouette with a jewelled waistline detailing.

This gown was also another of Alexander McQueen’s creations. This reception dress ensured a more comfortable fit and easy to move around in. This gown was much less elaborate than her first dress but none the less just as beautiful.

9. Meghan Markle

Designer: Givenchy

Megan Markle’s 2018 wedding to Prince Harry saw the Duchess of Sussex enlist Claire Waight Keller at Givenchy to design her custom-made wedding gown.

The gown was designed and made in just 5 months and in absolute secrecy.

Minimalistic and modest, Megan’s dress was a 3/4 sleeved, a bateau (or “boat” neckline) neckline to show off her decolletage in a floor length sweeping style.

Whilst many raved about how classic and elegant this bridal gown choice was, some weren’t so impressed and pinned the reason being that the dress was ill fitted to Meghan’s body.

Many people questioned why; a royal bride would have a wedding dress that didn’t fit her body properly.

Apparently, there’s a good reason behind it.

Mehalia Chang, writer for Harper’s Bazaar wrote that the fabric selected by Meghan and the dress’s designer, Claire was “extremely thick” and the cut of the dress was to “let the bride move and breathe in the dress more comfortably.”

So, there you go, the dress was loose intentionally – so that Meghan could be a bit more comfortable on her wedding day.

Following in sister-in-law’s bridal footsteps, Meghan had a second dress – designed by Stella McCartney. This dress was a sleeker and chicer version of a bridal gown which featured a high halter neck showing off her shoulders and arms, following down to a relaxed mermaid fit with a sweeping train.

11. Miranda Kerr

Being a supermodel, Miranda can pick just about any bridal gown style imaginable and she’d knock the look out of the park – from super minimalist to over-the-top princess styles, she selected a design that was the best from both bridal worlds.

The custom-made wedding gown was designed by Miranda herself together with Dior’s creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuiri and drawing inspiration from Grace Kelly’s wedding dress which Miranda have said to be one of her biggest fashion influences.

The dress featured long sleeves, a high neck and a voluminous skirt that extended to a grand train in a cream-coloured satin fabric. Having drawn inspiration from Grace Kelly’s gown the key difference is Miranda’s dress was appliqued with lilies of the valley.

For a bride that’s known to the world for her incredible body and an asset to generate her millions in her career, why did she opt for a gown that was more modest rather than something that was showier?

“A dress that fully covers you creates a sense of purity and mystery,” she told Vogue. “I’ve had a lot of fun with fashion, and I used to be more wild, free, bohemian. But in this period of my life, my style is more pulled back. My greatest sources of inspiration have always been Grace, Audrey Hepburn, and my grandmother, who at 80 has an effortless chic: a nice pant, a white blouse, a scarf, a little heel.”

The off-shoulder style with long sleeves and a sweetheart neckline showed off the bride’s decolletage that radiated subtle sexy while still being chic and modest.

The low back is a perfect way to add allure to a more modest style with intricate beading throughout the lace gown.

The designer label is known for it’s streetwear styles and it did a magical job in a traditional and feminine gown as Hayley’s wedding dress.

The bride finished off her look with a stunning veil with “Till death do us part” that was embroidered on the hemline of the veil. This touch was so extra and so freshly modern – just like her bride herself.
