Among the emerging trends, the resurgence of red wedding dresses has caught the attention of brides around the world. In this post, we'll delve into the contemporary trend of red wedding dresses, exploring the reasons behind their popularity, their cultural significance, and the diverse styles available today.
A striking and head turning hue: red wedding dresses.
Red wedding dresses have a rich history, deeply rooted in various cultures around the world. In many Eastern cultures, red symbolizes luck, prosperity, and joy, making it the colour of choice for weddings.
In China, for instance, red is associated with good fortune and happiness. Brides often opt for elaborately embroidered red dresses called qipaos or cheongsams, showcasing intricate designs and auspicious symbols.
Similarly, in India, red holds significant cultural and religious importance. Brides often wear vibrant red saris or lehengas, symbolizing fertility, passion, and auspicious beginnings. This cultural significance of red extends to other parts of Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, where red wedding attire is revered for its symbolism and cultural heritage.
In the past, before white wedding dresses became popular, brides in the Western world often wore red wedding gowns.
Red was a symbol of richness, power, and liveliness. Brides chose red wedding dresses to show wealth and importance.
This bright hue was very important in weddings until Queen Victoria decided to wear a white wedding dress in the 1800s. This choice became so famous that it changed how people considered about wedding dresses.
However, a captivating shift has emerged in recent years within Western bridal culture - a rekindled fascination with red wedding dresses.
Brides are increasingly fascinated by the allure of red for its innate uniqueness, daring boldness, and the profound statement it makes. This resurgence has prompted custom made wedding designers to embrace the trend, crafting breathtaking red gowns that harmoniously fuse traditional aspects with contemporary aesthetics.
As brides increasingly seek to diverge from conventional white bridal gowns, the resurgence of red in Western bridal fashion stands as a testament to the enduring allure of this colour. It celebrates a return to the roots of bridal symbolism while embracing a contemporary expression of style and sophistication. This revival not only acknowledges the historical significance of red in bridal gowns but also paves the way for brides to wear a wedding gown in a hue that exudes confidence, passion, and an unparalleled sense of distinction on your most cherished day.
Red dresses exude confidence and allure, adding a touch of drama and uniqueness to the bridal look.
In Western culture, the white wedding dress has been a symbol of purity and innocence for a long time, often seen as the perfect choice for brides. However, in recent times, more and more brides are becoming interested in red dresses because of their vibrant, passionate, and eye-catching nature. Red holds various meanings in different cultures, representing concepts like good luck, love, wealth, and happiness. This makes it a significant and meaningful choice for wedding attire.
What makes the red wedding dress stand out is its break from tradition. The current trend of wearing red for weddings differs from the usual selection of white wedding gowns, which have traditionally symbolized purity and innocence in weddings worldwide.
Instead, modern brides are increasingly leaning towards the bold and captivating charm of red, enticed by its lively, passionate, and striking appeal.
Red holds significant cultural meanings, varying across different societies - it represents good luck, love, prosperity, and joy. This diversity in symbolism elevates red to a profound choice for wedding attire, going beyond mere bridal fashion preferences.
This contemporary shift towards red wedding dresses reflects a desire among modern brides to stand out and make an impact. The allure of the colour red lies in its ability to captivate attention and evoke powerful emotions, creating a memorable and striking visual statement on one of life's most significant occasions.
Red Wedding Dresses: Modern elements infused into classic silhouettes.
The decision to wear a red wedding dress stands as a courageous departure from the customary white wedding gowns, providing brides with a remarkable opportunity to honour tradition while boldly expressing their unique individuality.
Red symbolizes not just passion and love but also serves as a vibrant celebration of cultural heritage and depth.
For numerous brides, choosing a red wedding dress signifies a profound statement that transcends mere bridal fashion choices. It embodies a reflection of their deeply held personal values, respect for cultural significance, and a eager desire to leave an unforgettable mark on one of life's most cherished and significant occasions.
Contemporary red wedding dresses present a captivating spectrum of colours, ranging from deep, velvety crimson to vivid, striking shades of red, catering to diverse tastes and complementing various skin tones.
Designers unleash their creativity, employing exquisite materials, intricate embellishments, and innovative silhouettes to offer brides an extensive array of choices that infuse classic elements with a refreshing contemporary edge.
In the realm of red wedding dresses, there are a range of different styles to suit the individual style and preferences of modern brides.
There are gowns that honour vintage styles, embracing cultural motifs and elaborate embroidery - a nod to timeless traditions. Conversely, other dresses adopt a more progressive outlook, featuring clean, sophisticated lines and bold, current designs. These modern interpretations cater to diverse preferences, ensuring there's something for every bride seeking to make a statement with a red wedding dress.
The range of available shapes and styles is equally diverse, spanning from the iconic and voluminous ball gown, reminiscent of a fairy-tale princess, to the sleek, figure-hugging mermaid silhouette that exudes a chic and streamlined allure.
These bridal dresses let brides truly express their unique style and personality.
For the bride seeking to break away from convention and embrace a gown that reflects her personality and style, a red wedding dress becomes an unforgettable and daring choice, marking the occasion with unparalleled beauty and significance.
The allure of a red wedding dress is undeniable.
Red embodies passion, confidence, and cultural significance, making it an exquisite choice for the modern bride.
However, selecting the ideal red wedding dress demands careful consideration and insight. To embark on this journey, here are essential tips to guide you in choosing the perfect red gown for your special day.
1. Embrace Your Style
You are highly unique, and your wedding dress should reflect your personal style and preferences.
Red comes in various shades - crimson, burgundy, scarlet, and more - each exuding its distinct charm.
Consider which shade resonates most with your personality and complements your skin tone.
If you lean towards classic elegance, a deeper shade like burgundy might be ideal. Conversely, vibrant personalities might prefer a striking crimson hue.
2. Explore Silhouettes
The style or silhouette of your wedding dress is a crucial element that significantly impacts your entire appearance. Each dress silhouette - be it a mermaid, ball gown, A-line, or sheath, showcases unique features and complements different body types in various ways. Understanding these distinctions is pivotal in choosing a dress that enhances your best features (or concealing anything that you would rather not put on show).
For instance, the ball gown silhouette radiates opulence and classic princess vibes, creating an essence of fairy-tale-like grandeur. On the other hand, the sleek and minimalist sheath silhouette embodies a contemporary and elegant aesthetic, accentuating the body's curves with a streamlined look.
Experimenting with various styles allows you to explore how each silhouette works with your body shape and style preferences. Discovering the silhouette that best flatters your figure and resonates with your personal style is essential.
Various wedding dress silhouettes can complement different body types:
A Line
The classic A-line silhouette is renowned for its universally flattering design.
It gently drapes over the body, accentuating the waist before gracefully cascading outward, creating a well-proportioned and elegant look that suits various body types. It’s feature of defining the waistline while softly flaring outward adds an air of sophistication, offering a harmonious and balanced appearance loved by many brides.
The versatility of the A-line silhouette makes it highly sought after as it beautifully complements different shapes and sizes, exuding both grace and comfort on the big day.
Ball Gown
The ball gown silhouette features a fitted bodice paired with a voluminous skirt, creating a breathtaking and fairy-tale-like allure. Known for its ability to accentuate the waist while gracefully concealing the lower body, it stands as a favoured choice for brides seeking a regal and glamorous aesthetic.
The structured bodice beautifully highlights curves, while the expansive skirt elegantly drapes over the hips and thighs, evoking a sense of opulence and refinement. The ball gown silhouette offers a flattering and magnificent appearance, radiating incredible elegance and sophistication.
Mermaid/Trumpet
The mermaid/trumpet silhouette delicately embraces the body, following its contours from the bodice to the knee before gently flaring outwards, highlighting your curves.
This dress silhouette is an ideal choice if you are looking to emphasize your curves and achieve a sleek and gracious look.
However, ensuring comfortable movement is crucial when opting for this style. While this silhouette wonderfully accentuates curves and boasts a striking, form-fitting allure, it's important to ensure the design allows for ease of movement. This is important if you are anticipating the need for lots of movement or planning a wedding in settings like a beach with uneven terrain, prioritizing comfort while walking in your wedding gown becomes essential. This consideration ensures confident navigation of different settings while feeling both elegant and at ease in your wedding dress.
Sheath/Column
The sheath/column silhouette delicately follows the contours of your body without any extra volume or embellishments.
This chic style is an outstanding choice for brides aiming for a sophisticated and understated look. Unlike fuller silhouettes, the sheath maintains a straight and sleek design, creating a clean and refined appearance. It’s minimalist yet modern essence offers a graceful and closely fitted silhouette, proving to be an excellent option if you are seeking a more subtle and elegant aesthetic.
The simplicity of this silhouette radiates timeless grace, highlighting natural curves while evoking a feeling of contemporary sophistication.
3. Fabric Matters
Selecting the right fabric significantly defines the overall appearance and essence of your wedding dress. It's important to choose fabrics that not only complement the red colour but also align with the silhouette you desire.
Luxurious materials such as silk, satin, or tulle contribute an aura of elegance and sophistication to the wedding dress. These fabrics gracefully drape and flow, enhancing the overall allure of the gown. On the other hand, lace or organza can introduce intricate details and textures, adding depth and dimension to the design.
The always classic and elegance appeal of lace is undeniable.
When considering fabric options, consider how each drape and moves. It's essential to strike a balance between aesthetics and comfort, ensuring that the chosen fabric not only looks beautiful but also feels comfortable when worn on your special day.
By paying attention to fabric characteristics such as how they fall, their weight, and their level of stretchability, you can ensure both visual appeal and comfort, allowing you to exude confidence and beauty as you walk down the aisle.
4. Be Open To Customization
Chances are, you'll discover that most bridal store boutiques don't carry a selection, if any, of red wedding dresses. Therefore, opting for a custom-made red wedding dress might be the route you'll need to consider.
In saying that, explore the possibility of collaborating with a local or online designer or boutique that provides customization services. This personalized approach enables you to integrate your distinct ideas into your wedding dress design, ensuring that your gown truly embodies your vision.
Customization offers a realm of possibilities, allowing you to tailor various aspects of the dress to your preferences. Whether you desire a specific neckline, the addition of sleeves, or adjustments to the train length, customization provides the perfect opportunity to craft a bespoke bridal gown that reflects your dream design.
This process of customization permits you to transform your envisioned wedding dress into a unique and exceptional reality. It grants the freedom to incorporate specific details and modifications that hold personal significance, resulting in a gown that encapsulates your individual style and preferences flawlessly.
Red, with its vibrant allure and move away from the traditional norms, has inspired a myriad of styles and designs in bridal wear, each exuding its unique charm and narrative.
This variety has resulted in a beautiful collection of different styles and designs in red wedding dresses. These dresses celebrate the mix of tradition, creativity, and the unique qualities of each bride.
Timeless Elegance of A Line Red Wedding Dresses
The A-line silhouette in red wedding dresses boasts timeless elegance. Celebrated for its flattering design, it gently skims the body, cinches at the waist, and gracefully flares out, offering a universally appealing silhouette. This style embraces the passionate hue of red, evoking a sense of regal sophistication.
A-line red dresses come in various shades, from deep crimson to brighter hues, catering to diverse preferences.
Embellishments like delicate lace, intricate bead work, or romantic floral appliqués enhance the allure of this classic silhouette, creating an ethereal and enchanting bridal look.

The timelessness of a simple bridal dress is an exquisite embodiment of enduring elegance that transcends eras and trends. It encapsulates a grace and sophistication that remains effortlessly captivating, speaking volumes with its understated charm and refined allure. This enduring appeal stems from its innate ability to exude a quiet yet profound beauty, allowing you to radiate a captivating allure while embracing a sense of effortless style.
At the center of it’s timelessness lies the concept of minimalism. A simple bridal dress doesn't rely on extravagant embellishments or complex details; rather, it celebrates the purity of clean lines, subtle textures, and refined craftsmanship.
It’s classic silhouette accentuates your body shape, evoking a sense of refined grace that stands the test of time. This timeless quality ensures that regardless of the current fashion trends, a simple bridal gown remains a symbol of sophistication and grace.
Whether adorned with delicate lace, adorned with minimalist beading, or kept entirely unadorned, a simple wedding dress design effortlessly complements various bridal styles and themes, making it a constant favourite for brides of diverse tastes.
In essence, the timelessness of a simple bridal dress transcends trends and “what’s hot”. It embodies an enduring elegance that resonates through time, gracefully capturing the essence of love, beauty, and sophistication.
Clean Silhouettes and Lines
Simple bridal gowns are renowned for their unembellished yet striking appearance, typically showcasing clean silhouettes that elegantly hug and complement the body's natural contours. Among the various styles, the sheath, A-line, or column dresses stand out as prime examples of this simplicity.
These designs prioritize clean lines and uncomplicated shapes, resulting in a refined and understated aesthetic that is all about effortless beauty. Whether it's the sleekness of a sheath dress, the subtle flair of an A-line silhouette, or the streamlined elegance of a column gown, each style epitomizes the essence of simplicity while exuding an undeniable allure and sophistication that captivates the eye.
Clean lines and a structured silhouette defines a simple bridal dress style making it look incredibly glamorous.
Minimalist Embellishments
Though elaborate bead work and intricate lacework undoubtedly possess a mesmerizing charm, the allure of a simple bridal dress lies in its preference for understated embellishments.
Opting for minimalist detailing is a hallmark of simplicity, where subtle accents like delicate lace appliqués, discreetly placed buttons, or a slender belt are chosen thoughtfully. These subtle extras work to make the gown more elegant, adding a hint of sophistication without taking away from its overall simplicity. They're like gentle accents, bringing finesse and beauty to the dress, making sure that the focus stays on its clean and graceful shape while giving it a touch of refined charm.
Luxurious Fabrics
The fabric selection plays a pivotal role in what defines the essence of a simple bridal dress. Luxurious materials such as silk, satin, crepe, or chiffon lends immense significance in creating an aura of sophistication and grace within the gown whilst keeping the overlook look refined.
Silk and satin fabrics are renowned for their opulent, glossy textures, bringing to the table a sense of richness and luxury whilst crepe and chiffon offer a different kind of elegance, delivering a subtle and flowy drape that adds a graceful movement to the wedding gown.
The distinctive qualities and textures of these fabrics hold significant importance in elevating the appeal of the gown. They contribute immensely to the overall allure by enhancing the simplicity of the design with their inherent luxuriousness.
The seamless blending of a simple design with the richness of carefully chosen fabrics ensures the creation of a bridal ensemble that embodies enduring sophistication and timeless beauty, making a striking statement on your wedding day.
Opulent fabrics like silk possess an unmatched, high-end allure.
Elegant Necklines And Backs
Simple wedding dresses frequently emphasize sophisticated necklines and backs.
Timeless styles such as the classic V-neck, sweetheart, bateau (boat neck), or scoop neck are commonly chosen, complemented by modest yet intricately detailed backs. These neckline options, when paired with a carefully designed back, allow the dress to make a statement through subtle elegance rather than extravagant flair.
Whether it's the allure of a gracefully plunging V-neck or the charm of a demure sweetheart neckline, coupled with a modest or intricately adorned back, these combinations create a captivating focal point without overwhelming the overall simplicity of the wedding dress.
The balance achieved between understated necklines and beautifully crafted backs adds a touch of allure and sophistication, ensuring that the wedding gown remains both refined and memorable.
Understanding your unique body shape and embracing what makes you feel confident and at ease plays a key role in discovering a silhouette that truly flatters your figure.
It's essential to consider factors such as neckline, sleeve style, and fabric to enhance the overall appearance and comfort of the wedding dress, ensuring it accentuates your best features while providing comfort on your wedding day.
Seeking guidance from bridal fitting experts and experimenting with different styles can help in finding the silhouette that not only complements your body shape but also aligns with your personal preferences.
Different wedding dress silhouettes tend to flatter various figures:
A Line
The timeless A-line silhouette is celebrated for its universally flattering design.
It elegantly drapes over the body, emphasizing the waist before gently cascading outward, resulting in a graceful and well-proportioned appearance that flatters a diverse range of body types.
It’s ability to define the waistline while offering a subtle flare outward brings touches of sophistication, presenting a harmonious and balanced look that many brides appreciate. The A line silhouette's adaptability makes it a sought-after choice, particularly among plus-size brides, as it gracefully complements various shapes and sizes, providing an aura of both elegance and comfort for the big day.
One of the most popular silhouettes is the A Line - loved for it's versatility and ability to suit and flatter a wide range of body shapes and sizes.
Ball Gown
The ball gown silhouette features a fitted bodice matched with a voluminous skirt, creating a breathtaking and princess-like appearance.
Renowned for its ability to accentuate the waist while gracefully concealing the lower body, it stands as a favoured choice among brides seeking a regal and glamorous aesthetic.
The structured bodice beautifully highlights curves, while the expansive skirt elegantly drapes over the hips and thighs, offering a sense of opulence and refinement. The ball gown silhouette provides a flattering and magnificent look, radiating incredible elegance and sophistication.
Mermaid/Trumpet
The mermaid/trumpet silhouette delicately embraces your body, following it’s contours from the bodice to the knee before gently flaring outward, accentuating the natural curves. It's a flattering option for brides wanting to emphasize their curves and achieve a sleek and elegant appearance. However, ensuring comfortable mobility is paramount when choosing this style.
While this silhouette beautifully accentuates curves and presents a striking, form-fitting allure, it's crucial to ensure the design allows for easy movement. Especially if you anticipate a need for mobility or plan to have your wedding in settings like a beach with uneven terrain, feeling comfortable while walking in your wedding gown becomes essential. This consideration ensures that you can confidently navigate different settings while feeling both elegant and at ease in your wedding dress.
Sheath/Column
The sheath/column silhouette gracefully touches on your body's curves without added volume or flair. This sleek style serves as an excellent option for brides seeking a polished and understated appearance.
Unlike fuller silhouettes, the sheath maintains a straight and streamlined design, offering a clean and sophisticated look. It’s minimalist yet stylish nature presents a graceful and closely fitted silhouette, making it a superb choice for brides desiring a more subtle and refined aesthetic.
The simplicity of this silhouette exudes timeless elegance, accentuating natural curves while imparting a sense of modern sophistication.
Understanding Your Style
Begin your wedding dress selection journey by understanding your personal style. Consider exploring wedding dress silhouettes, fabrics, and necklines that deeply resonate with your taste and preferences.
Whether you're drawn to the streamlined elegance of a sleek sheath or the graceful flow of an A-line gown, it's important that your chosen wedding dress reflects your individuality, allowing you to feel not just beautiful but also confident on your special day.
By considering the shapes, materials, and neckline styles that align with your personality, you pave the way for discovering a wedding dress that becomes an authentic reflection of who you are, ensuring that when you walk down the aisle, you feel completely at ease and radiate the beauty that's uniquely yours.
Trying Different Designs
Even if you have a particular style in mind, it’s worthwhile to keep an open mind and consider trying on different designs. Sometimes, the dress you least anticipate liking might end up being the one that steals your heart when you slip into it!
Book an appointment at your local bridal stores and try on various styles can be an eye opener and a delightful experience. By trying on different dresses, you'll gain valuable insights into what truly complements your figure and makes you feel truly incredible.
Each gown you try provides an opportunity to discover unexpected elements that accentuate your beauty in new and surprising ways. So, stay open to the possibilities and allow yourself the chance to find a dress that surpasses your expectations, making you feel extraordinary on your big day.
Seeking Simplicity In Details
When on the pursuit for a simple wedding dress, it's crucial to focus on the finer details. Despite being minimalist, these dresses can boast exquisite elements such as delicate embroidery, a meticulously structured bodice, or an unconventional hemline, adding a touch of individuality without compromising their simplicity.
These subtle yet intricate details contribute to the dress's overall beauty, elevating it beyond the ordinary while staying true to its understated elegance.
Whether it's the artistry of fine embroidery enhancing the gown's allure, a well-crafted bodice adding structure and grace, or a unique hemline lending an unexpected flair, these elements make a simple wedding dress design a standout choice.
By paying attention to these subtle embellishments, you'll discover how these small details can transform a minimalist dress into a stunning and unforgettable gown for your special day.
Customization And Tailoring
Exploring customization possibilities offered by designers, skilled dressmakers, and tailors adds a unique dimension to your wedding dress selection process.
Opting for a simple wedding dress doesn't mean sacrificing the opportunity for personal touches. Whether it's adjustments to the neckline, modifications to sleeve lengths, or infusing personalized elements like delicate embroidery or a distinctive embellishment, these changes and additions have the power to elevate a simple wedding dress into an unparalleled masterpiece that mirrors your individual style.
Embracing customization enables you to infuse the wedding dress with your personality, ensuring that it maintains its graceful simplicity while becoming an exclusive reflection of your preferences and aspirations for your dream wedding dress.

When trying on wedding dresses, prioritize comfort, ease of movement, and the boost in confidence it provides for you. Here are pointers for a successful wedding dress try on experience.
When it comes to selecting the perfect wedding dress silhouette for plus-size brides, it's essential to factor in individual preferences and body shapes while also addressing specific body concerns and emphasizing favoured features.
Understanding your unique body shape and what makes you feel confident and comfortable plays a crucial role in finding a silhouette that flatters your figure.
Additionally, considering elements like neckline, sleeve style, and fabric can further enhance the overall look and feel of the dress, ensuring that it accentuates your best features and provides the desired level of comfort on your special day. Consulting with bridal fitting experts and trying on various styles can help in discovering the silhouette that not only complements your body but also resonates with your personal style and makes you feel incredibly confident on your wedding day.
Certain wedding dress silhouettes tend to flatter various figures:
A-Line
The classic A-line silhouette is renowned for its universally flattering design. It delicately drapes over the body, highlighting the waist and then gently flares out, creating a graceful and well-proportioned appearance that suits a wide range of body types.
It's ability to accentuate the waist while providing a subtle flow outward adds an elegant touch, offering a balanced and harmonious look that many plus size brides find flattering.
This silhouette's versatility makes it one of the most popular choices, as it beautifully complements various shapes and sizes (especially brides who are plus sized), providing a sense of elegance and comfort for plus sized brides on their special day.
Black A Line Silhouette Wedding Dresses
One of the most popular silhouettes for brides due to it's highly versatility to suit, flatter and compliment a range of different body shapes and sizes.
Ball Gown
Despite the misconception that plus-sized brides should avoid bottom-heavy or voluminous wedding dress silhouettes to prevent adding perceived "bulk" to curvier body shapes, the truth is that these brides can look incredibly stunning in regal silhouettes like a ball gown.
The ball gown silhouette boasts a fitted bodice paired with a voluminous skirt, creating a stunning, princess-like appearance.
This silhouette is known for its ability to accentuate the waist while elegantly concealing the lower body, making it a sought-after choice among plus-size brides aiming for a royal and glamorous aesthetic. It’s structured bodice highlights the curves while the full skirt gracefully drapes over the hips and thighs, providing a sense of grandeur and sophistication.
For plus-size brides, the ball gown silhouette offers a flattering silhouette, exuding an aura of elegance and confidence on their special day.
Black Ball Gown Silhouette Wedding Dresses
Regal, whimsical and the ultimate in bridal romance - the right design in this silhouette can look stunning on a plus size bride.
Empire Waist
The empire silhouette begins with a high waistline positioned just below the bust, creating an elongated look that gracefully flows over the curves.
This style is particularly favourable for brides seeking to divert attention from the midsection. By accentuating the area below the bust and then cascading gently over the body, the empire silhouette creates an illusion of length, offering a flattering and slender effect.
It’s flowing design skims over the waist and hips, providing a comfortable and elegant fit while drawing the eyes upward. Ideal for those wishing to minimize focus on the midsection, this silhouette offers a chic and sophisticated look that complements various body shapes with its graceful and flattering design.
Mermaid/Trumpet
The mermaid/trumpet silhouette gracefully hugs the body from the bodice to the knee before gently flaring out, accentuating the natural curves.
It's a flattering choice for plus-size brides aiming to highlight their curves and create a sleek, elegant look. However, ensuring comfortable movement is essential when opting for this style.
While this silhouette beautifully accentuates curves and offers a striking, form-fitting appearance, it's imperative to ensure the design allows for comfortable movement. If you anticipate a lot of movement or plan to have your wedding in locations like a beach with uneven surfaces, it's essential to feel at ease while walking in your dress.
Prioritizing comfort is crucial, especially if you foresee scenarios where mobility might be challenging due to the silhouette's fitted nature. This consideration ensures that you can confidently navigate various settings or terrains while feeling comfortable and elegant in your wedding gown.
This silhouette beautifully showcases curves while maintaining an element of sophistication, making it an appealing choice for brides seeking a sleek and alluring bridal look.
Mermaid Silhouette Wedding Dresses
Form fitting to highlight and accentuate your curves, don't believe it when you're told you can't wear a mermaid/trumpet silhouette gown with your curvy figure.
Sheath/Column
The sheath/column silhouette elegantly follows the body's contours without excessive volume or flare.
This streamlined style is ideal for plus-size brides seeking a refined and understated appearance.
Unlike fuller silhouettes, the sheath silhouette maintains a sleek and straight design, providing a clean and sophisticated look. Its minimalist yet chic nature offers a graceful and figure-hugging fit, making it an excellent choice for plus brides who prefer a more subtle and refined aesthetic.
The silhouette's simplicity allows for a timeless elegance, showcasing the natural curves while offering a sense of sophistication and poise for the bride on her special day.
The fabric you select for your wedding dress significantly influences its overall look and the comfort it provides while being worn. Plus-size brides have specific fabric options that not only flatter but also ensure comfort, allowing you to feel your absolute best on your wedding day.
Here are several popular fabric choices that cater well to diverse body types:
Chiffon
Chiffon wedding dresses tailored for plus-size brides are celebrated for their remarkable attributes. Renowned for its ethereal and weightless quality, chiffon possesses a graceful drape that beautifully complements various body shapes, resulting in an elegant and flattering silhouette. This fabric has a remarkable ability to gently cascade over curves, offering a sophisticated and flowing appearance that accentuates the bride's figure in an incredibly flattering manner.
Beyond its aesthetic appeal, chiffon's airy and lightweight nature contributes to exceptional comfort, making it an excellent choice for extended wear during wedding ceremonies and celebrations. It’s breathable quality allows for ease of movement, ensuring that plus-size brides feel at ease and unrestricted throughout their special day.
Chiffon wedding dresses tailored for plus-size brides exemplify both style and comfort, making them a popular choice for those seeking a gown that seamlessly combines gracefulness with a relaxed and comfortable fit for their wedding festivities.
Lace
Lace fabric in wedding dresses tailored for plus-size brides offers a multitude of advantages owing to its delicate and adaptable nature. This versatile fabric can be employed as an overlay or in intricate patterns, adding a layer of exquisite texture and elegance to the gown.
One of lace's exceptional qualities lies in its ability to enhance the visual appeal of the dress while accommodating various body shapes. Whether used as an overlay across the entire gown or strategically placed in details and patterns, lace effortlessly complements curves, creating a flattering and graceful silhouette for plus-size brides. Its flexibility allows it to conform to different body contours, ensuring a comfortable and accommodating fit without compromising on style.
Furthermore, the intricate designs and patterns of lace add a timeless and romantic allure to the wedding dress, elevating the overall bridal aesthetic. It’s inherent charm and versatility make it an excellent choice for plus-size brides seeking a gown that exudes sophistication and beauty while offering flexibility and comfort.
There are so many types and designs of lace to align with your vision and personal taste.
Tulle
One of the remarkable qualities of tulle lies in its capacity to produce a whimsical and ethereal appearance which is perfect for the plus size bride that loves this look without compromising on comfort.
Tulle stands out as a favoured fabric for wedding gowns for plus-size brides who love a whimsical or romantic bridal look. This fabric is loved for its unique ability to offer structural support and volume without burdening the gown's weight.
Widely used in creating skirts and overlays, tulle contributes to the creation of a visually striking yet lightweight gown. It’s fine and airy texture lends a dreamy quality to the gown, allowing for graceful movement and a sense of delicacy. Despite its voluminous appearance, tulle remains forgiving and comfortable, providing ease of mobility without compromising on style or elegance.
Organza
Organza is a fabric that is similar to chiffon but has a bit more body. It's great for wedding dresses - especially for plus-size brides, as it strikes a perfect balance between giving the dress some structure while still feeling very light. This fabric boasts a unique quality—providing a structured appearance while remaining remarkably lightweight.
Its slightly stiffer texture compared to chiffon allows organza to hold its shape more prominently, contributing to a gown's overall structure. Despite this added body, organza retains a graceful and airy quality, ensuring comfort and ease of movement for the wearer.
One of the standout features of organza is its suitability for layering, allowing designers to create depth and dimension in bridal gowns. Its translucency enables beautiful overlays and intricate detailing, adding layers of sophistication and elegance to the dress.
Moreover, organza's ability to hold various shapes, from subtle flares to dramatic silhouettes, makes it a versatile fabric choice. Its versatility extends to its compatibility with embellishments and embroideries, enabling designers to create ornate and refined looks for plus-size brides.
Overall, organza serves as an excellent choice for brides seeking a gown that balances structure with a lightweight feel. Its capacity to add sophistication through layering, intricate designs, and the creation of beautiful silhouettes makes it a desirable option for achieving a stunning and refined bridal ensemble.
Fabric Considerations Wrap Up
When selecting a fabric, consider not only its aesthetic appeal but also how it drapes over your body and enhances your comfort. The right fabric choice can complement your figure, allowing you to exude confidence and beauty on your wedding day. Consulting with a skilled dressmaker or bridal consultant can also provide valuable insights and guidance in choosing the ideal fabric that suits both your style preferences and body type.
Accessories serve as essential elements in finalizing your bridal look, contributing to your overall appearance. Be it a veil, headpiece, or striking jewellery, the right selection of accessories has the power to elevate your bridal ensemble.
When considering how to accessorize your wedding dress, keep in mind the following tips;
Veils
Selecting the right veil, considering its length and style, can truly transform and complete your bridal look, seamlessly blending with your wedding dress and adding that finishing touch of sophistication.
A cathedral-length veil, known for its graceful trailing effect, has the power to infuse your ensemble with grandeur and drama, making a striking statement.
Conversely, a shorter veil tends to evoke a subtler yet refined appearance, delicately complementing the dress without overshadowing its beauty.
The art lies in finding that perfect balance where the veil enhances the overall aesthetic, harmonizing elegantly with your wedding gown to create a captivating bridal allure.
Headpieces
From stunning tiaras to dainty hairpins, there's a wide range of headpieces to choose from, offering plenty of options for your bridal look. When selecting a headpiece, aim for one that not only matches your hairstyle but also adds a special touch to your overall appearance on your big day.
Consider details like the design's intricacy, how well it blends with your entire look, and if it reflects your own personal style.
Think about how the headpiece will fit into your hairstyle, whether you prefer something subtle or a statement piece. Consider if the design complements your dress and other accessories, creating a harmonious and cohesive bridal ensemble.

Read on to find out!
]]>Your wedding day is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, filled with anticipation, joy, and love. As the bride, all eyes will be on you, and you deserve to look and feel your absolute best.
In most cases, a wedding gown is expected to be among the priciest dresses you'll ever wear, and this is all for the most exceptional of reasons - to commemorate your love in a highly celebrated union with your significant other.
While some brides might find their perfect wedding dress at a local bridal store, other brides may find that despite the abundance of stunning wedding gowns available, these designs don’t align with their individual preferences for something distinctively their own. This shortcoming could be various aspects; including the wedding dress design, fabric, fit or a combination of these factors.
So, the question often gets asked, “How much does a custom-made wedding dress cost?”
Unfortunately, there's no one-size-fits-all answer to this question. It depends a lot on the bride and what she wants from her wedding dress in terms of design intricacy, the fabric, any embroideries or beading with the dress etc.
It is important to note that various designers, dressmakers, or bridal stores offering custom-made wedding dresses offer different degrees of customization and service. When you're comparing prices among custom wedding dress vendors, it's important to consider the comprehensive service for your custom bridal gown rather than solely on the initial price, as this will give you a more accurate picture of the value you're receiving.
In this guide, we will explore the factors that influence the cost of custom wedding dresses. From the selection of materials to craftsmanship and other details, we will uncover the intricacies of custom-made wedding dress pricing to help brides-to-be have a better understanding of the investment required for their dream wedding gown.
To gain a bit of perspective on this matter, let's begin by examining wedding dress pricing. This will help us grasp where your wedding dress stands in the broader context of wedding costs.
Your wedding dress expenses are unlikely to rank as the most significant within your wedding budget. Typically, venues, catering, travel, rings, videography, and photography are some of the more substantial costs associated with a wedding.
Our first recommendation is to begin by brainstorming all your wedding dress ideas. Filter through these ideas and narrow them down to your top choices. Afterward, you can conduct initial online research to get an idea of the prices of wedding dresses that align with your preferences. If you can't find pricing information online and need to visit a bridal boutique to try on gowns and inquire about pricing, this is the next step we suggest. After a few visits to bridal stores, you'll likely have a clearer understanding of the prices and what you can anticipate paying for a gown similar to what you have in mind.
As per Canstar's report from February 2023, the average cost of a wedding dress stands at $2,304.00. However, when you factor in alterations for your wedding dress, this can increase the price range to between $500.00 and $1,000.00.
Most off-the-rack wedding dresses will sit between $2,000.00 - $2,850.00 (not yet including the cost of any required alterations). With these off-the-rack wedding dresses, there is very limited or options or no changes allowed with the design of the wedding dress.
Before we delve in further detail through the world of custom-made wedding dresses, let's establish what custom wedding dresses are and what makes them so special.
What is a custom-made wedding dress?
A custom wedding dress, also known as a bespoke wedding gown, is a gown crafted specifically for the bride, tailored to her unique preferences and measurements.
While there are countless wedding dresses available off the rack, opting for a custom-made wedding dress can elevate your bridal experience and provide a myriad of benefits that make it worth considering. Let’s delve into why brides should choose a custom-made wedding dress and the many benefits it offers.
The endless design possibilities with a custom made wedding gown...are you ready to bring your dress dreams to life?
1. Unique Design & Endless Design Possibilities
When you choose a custom-made wedding dress, you have the freedom to explore an array of design possibilities. You can collaborate with a skilled dressmaker to create the dress of your dreams. Whether you want a classic, vintage, modern, or completely unique look, the options are virtually limitless.
From selecting the neckline, sleeve style, and train length to choosing the fabric, lace, and embellishments, your custom-made dress can be tailored to match your vision perfectly.
2. Unparalleled Individuality
When you choose a custom-made wedding dress, you embark on a journey to create a gown that reflects your unique personality and style. Off-the-rack dresses may offer beautiful designs, but they are mass-produced and worn by countless brides. A custom-made dress, on the other hand, allows you to stand out and showcase your distinct taste.
Every bride is unique, and your wedding dress should be a representation of your individuality. Custom-made dresses are tailored to your exact specifications, ensuring a perfect fit and a one-of-a-kind look that can't be replicated by any other bride. From the silhouette to the fabric, to the intricate details, every element is designed according to your personal preference and requests.
3. Flawless Fit
One of the most significant advantages of a custom-made wedding dress is the impeccable fit. Off-the-rack dresses come in standard sizes, and alterations are often necessary to achieve the desired fit. These alterations can be costly and time-consuming. In contrast, a custom-made dress is designed and sewn to your precise measurements, ensuring it hugs your body in all the right places.
With a perfectly fitting dress, you'll not only look stunning but also feel comfortable throughout your wedding day.
4. Handmade With Love
A custom-made wedding dress offers superior quality compared to mass-produced dresses. Skilled dressmakers take pride in their craft and use the finest materials, ensuring that every stitch and detail is of the highest standard. With meticulous attention to quality, you can trust that your dress will be durable and maintain its beauty for years to come.
Additionally, the hands-on approach to creating a custom dress allows for thorough quality control at every stage of production. This means fewer chances of defects or imperfections that can sometimes be found in off-the-rack dresses.
5. Emotion Connection
The process of creating a custom-made wedding dress can be a deeply emotional and memorable experience. From the initial consultation to the final fitting, every step is filled with anticipation and excitement. You get to be a part of the entire design process, which can forge a stronger connection to your dress.
This emotional connection to your custom-made dress can make it even more special on your wedding day. You'll cherish the memories of choosing the design, selecting fabrics, and seeing your dress come to life.
6. Unique To You
One of the most alluring benefits of a custom-made wedding dress is the exclusivity it provides. Your wedding gown is unique to you, created to fulfill your dreams and capture your essence as a bride. It's unlikely that anyone else will ever wear a wedding dress identical to yours.
This exclusivity is a priceless element that makes your wedding day even more special. When you walk down the aisle in a bridal gown that has been designed exclusively for you, you become the embodiment of elegance and individuality.
7. Timeless Investment
A custom-made wedding gown is more than just a beautiful garment; it's an investment in a timeless piece of art. Unlike off-the-rack dresses, which may go out of style, your custom-made dress will never lose its appeal. It will remain cherished memorabilia of your special day, something you can pass down to future generations as a family heirloom.
Choosing a custom-made dress is not just about the wedding day itself but about creating a lasting memory that you can revisit and share with loved ones for years to come.
8. Sustainable Choice
In an era where sustainability is gaining importance, a custom-made wedding dress can also be a more environmentally friendly choice. Mass-produced wedding dresses often contribute to excess waste in the fashion industry due to overproduction and the use of non-sustainable materials. In contrast, a custom-made dress is created with intention, using materials chosen thoughtfully, and producing only what is needed.
Furthermore, by investing in a gown you'll cherish for a lifetime, you're less likely to contribute to the throwaway culture of fast fashion.
While off-the-rack wedding dresses can be beautiful and convenient, a custom-made wedding dress offers a level of individuality, quality, and sentimental value that is hard to match. It allows you to be an integral part of the design process, ensuring that your gown reflects your personality and style perfectly. It's an investment in a piece of art that will remain timeless and special for years to come.
On your wedding day, you deserve to feel like the most beautiful and unique version of yourself, and a custom-made wedding dress is the key to making that dream a reality. Embrace the opportunity to be a part of the design process, and you'll discover that the journey to your perfect gown is as meaningful as the moment you walk down the aisle.
With an understanding of the charm of custom-made wedding dresses, it's time to look into the intricate elements that determine their price.
The cost of a custom wedding dress can vary widely due to an array of factors. Understanding these elements will help you determine the range you should expect when searching for your dream gown.
1. Material Matters
The selection of materials stands as a crucial determinant in the pricing of a custom wedding dress. The quality of fabrics and the presence of intricate lace and embellishments significantly contribute to the overall cost.
Some of the materials most used for wedding dresses include silk, satin, chiffon, and lace, each offering distinct textures and aesthetics. Materials like silk, known for its luxurious feel and sheen, are a popular choice. The exquisite texture and draping of silk can make it a preferred fabric, but it can also come at a higher cost.
Lace adds a touch of timeless elegance to wedding dresses. The intricacy and quality of the lace used can vary, impacting the final price. Delicate, handcrafted lace often comes at a premium, while machine-made lace is more budget friendly.
The level of embellishment, such as beading, sequins, or embroidery, can significantly affect the cost. Elaborate embellishments require more time and skill to incorporate into the wedding gown, resulting in a higher price tag.
These unique choices not only enhance the overall aesthetic but also add an exclusive touch to your custom gown, making it truly one-of-a-kind. Ultimately, the materials you choose will not only affect the look and feel of your custom wedding dress but also its price. It's essential to strike a balance between your budget and your desire for luxurious materials to create a gown that is both exquisite and affordable.
Fabrics plays an important role in the overall aesthetic of your wedding dress and is one of the main factors that will influence the price of your custom bridal gown.
2. Design Complexity
The complexity of the dress design is a pivotal factor that can substantially affect the cost of a custom wedding dress. Let's take a closer look at how design intricacy plays a significant role in the pricing:
Minimalist Designs
Wedding dresses characterized by their simple and elegant designs are often priced more modestly than a much more detailed or intricate wedding gown design. These gowns are celebrated for their timeless appeal, emphasizing the following elements;
Brides who gravitate toward straightforward, elegant wedding dresses appreciate the understated sophistication they offer. These gowns radiate a timeless charm that complements a variety of wedding themes and settings. Moreover, their affordability allows brides to allocate resources to other aspects of their wedding, such as the venue, catering, or photography, while still looking exceptionally chic on their wedding day.
Intricate Bead Work, Embroidery, And Lace Appliques
The more intricate the embellishments, the higher the cost. Wedding dresses adorned with intricate bead work, delicate embroidery, or elaborate lace appliques require meticulous craftsmanship and additional time for their incorporation. This level of detail enhances the gown's overall beauty but also contributes to a higher price.
Hand Sewn Crystals And Pearls
Wedding dresses featuring hand-sewn crystals or pearls can be particularly costly due to the labour-intensive nature of this embellishment. Each crystal or pearl is meticulously placed by hand, making it a time-consuming and highly skilled process that adds to the overall price.
Complex Silhouettes And Layering
Wedding gowns with complex silhouettes or multiple layers of fabric are generally more expensive. These designs often involve intricate patterns, draping, and construction, which can be both time-consuming and technically challenging for the dressmaker.
The level of design intricacy you choose ultimately depends on your personal style and preferences. While a simpler design may be more budget-friendly, an intricately designed gown can be a breathtaking work of art that perfectly captures your vision for your dream wedding dress. Balancing your design aspirations with your budget is crucial in creating the custom wedding dress of your dreams.
3. Craftsmanship And Expertise
The skill and experience of the dressmaker or designer can significantly impact the cost. Highly skilled and well-known designers or dressmakers often command higher fees due to their expertise and reputation. The level of detail and precision in craftsmanship can make a substantial difference in the final cost.
The intricacy and precision of the dressmaker's craftsmanship can significantly influence the final cost. Skilled dressmakers can work with exquisite attention to detail, ensuring that every stitch, bead, and lace applique is perfectly placed. This level of detail requires time and expertise, contributing to the bridal gown's overall price.
The dressmaker’s expertise with custom designing is another role that contributes towards the price. Designers with a specialization in custom creations possess the ability to bring a bride's vision to life with impeccable accuracy. They can translate a bride's desires into a breathtaking, one-of-a-kind custom wedding gown, which can come at a premium due to the unique nature of the work.
Brides who choose to invest in the expertise of highly skilled and experienced designers are not only securing a beautifully crafted dress but also a level of assurance that their vision will be faithfully realized. This personalized experience often justifies the higher cost and results in a wedding dress that is truly a work of art.
4. Geographic Influence
The geographical location of the dressmaker or bridal boutique plays a role in the pricing of custom wedding dresses.
When considering where to have your custom wedding dress made, it's important to consider the cost of living and business expenses in the area. Brides who opt for dressmakers in major cities or upscale locations may benefit from a wider range of design choices and premium services but should be prepared for a higher price point. Conversely, choosing a dressmaker in a less urbanized area could result in cost savings without compromising on quality or style.
5. Season And Lead Time
The timing of when you order your custom wedding dress, along with the lead time, can significantly affect the price.
Planning ahead and placing your order well in advance of your wedding date can provide advantages. Many dressmakers or bridal boutiques offer incentives for early orders. This may include potential discounts or the ability to take advantage of standard pricing rather than rush fees.
Conversely, last-minute requests for a custom wedding dress, especially if your wedding date is rapidly approaching, may incur rush fees. These fees account for the expedited work required to create the gown within a shorter time frame.
The time of year can also be a factor. The bridal industry often experiences peak demand during certain seasons, such as spring and summer, which might affect both pricing and availability. Ordering during off-peak months may attract more favourable terms and prices.
Having explored the foundational elements that contribute to the pricing of custom-made wedding dresses, it's time to delve further into the specifics and provide a comprehensive overview of the typical expenses associated with these custom-made bridal gowns.
Custom wedding dresses at the more affordable end of the price range typically fall within the $2,000 to $3,500 bracket.
Let's explore what you can expect within this price range.
Wedding dresses in this price bracket are typically crafted using materials that are more budget-friendly. While they may not utilize the most opulent or extravagant fabrics, they maintain a level of quality that ensures both comfort and durability. These materials are carefully chosen to offer a stylish look without incurring steep costs.
Simplicity is often the hallmark of dresses in this range. The designs are elegantly understated, focusing on clean lines, classic silhouettes, and minimal embellishments.
These wedding dresses may be the creation of designers or dressmakers who are not widely recognized on a global scale. However, this doesn't diminish the quality of their work. Many emerging designers possess considerable skill and bring fresh, innovative ideas to the bridal fashion industry.
Due to the simplicity of the design and choice of materials, wedding dresses in this price range typically require fewer fittings and alterations. The straightforward construction often results in a more streamlined fitting process, ensuring that brides can achieve the desired fit without excessive effort.
Brides who select custom wedding dresses in this budget-friendly range benefit from a harmonious blend of style, quality, and affordability. While the gowns may not boast opulent features or extravagant materials, they retain their appeal by offering a comfortable, well-fitting, and timeless option for brides who value simplicity and elegance.
Many custom wedding dresses in Australia fall within the mid-range price category, typically spanning from $3,500 to $7,000.
Wedding gowns in this mid-range bracket commonly feature superior-quality materials. While they may not reach the upper echelons of luxury, they offer a noticeable upgrade in terms of both comfort and style. Brides can anticipate fabrics that have a more exquisite look and feel.
One of the distinguishing features of wedding dresses in this category is the presence of more intricate designs and finer details. These gowns often showcase elegant and elaborate elements such as intricate lacework, delicate bead work, or ornate embroidery. This level of detail adds a touch of opulence and refinement to the dress.
The craftsmanship involved in creating dresses within this range is of a higher standard. Experienced dressmakers or boutiques in this bracket are renowned for their precision and attention to detail. The additional expertise and effort dedicated to these gowns contribute to their overall quality.
Brides seeking a balance between quality and price often find that mid-range custom wedding dresses offer the best of both worlds. These gowns provide a noticeable step up in terms of materials, design, and craftsmanship without venturing into the highest price brackets.
Custom wedding dresses within this mid-range budget are ideal for brides who desire a level of sophistication and elegance in their gowns while remaining within a more reasonable budget. They represent a sweet spot in the wedding dress market, providing a harmonious fusion of quality and affordability.

From lace to sequins, there are a variety of accents that can be added to a black wedding dress to make it stand out. Lace is a classic choice that adds a touch of romance and elegance to any dress. Delicate details like floral patterns and ruffled sleeves can soften the edgy look of a black wedding dress.

What’s more, your wedding dress can be beautifully accented with a veil or headpiece to complete the modern and elegant look. For a gothic vibe, a black cathedral-length veil with lace appliques or a feather-edged cathedral-length veil with feathers lining can be paired with the dress.

When choosing the style and fit of a black wedding dress, it's important to consider several key factors to ensure that you find a gown that both flatters your figure and suits your personal style. Here are three things to keep in mind:
Silhouette
The silhouette of your black wedding dress will play a major role in how it looks on your body. Consider your body type and choose a silhouette that will accentuate your best features while minimizing any areas you may feel self-conscious about. For example, an A-line gown can be flattering on many body types, while a mermaid silhouette is best for those with an hourglass figure.
Details
The details of your black wedding dress can also make a big difference in how it looks on you. Consider the neckline, sleeves, and embellishments carefully to ensure that they complement your figure and personal style. For example, a plunging neckline can be dramatic and sexy, while long sleeves can add a touch of elegance and sophistication.
Comfort
Finally, it's important to choose a black wedding dress that you feel comfortable in. You'll be wearing this gown for hours on your wedding day, so it's important that you can move, dance, and sit comfortably. Consider the weight of the fabric, the fit of the bodice, and the length of the train when making your decision.
When choosing a black wedding dress, consider the silhouette, details, and comfort. Remember to choose a gown that flatters your figure and suits your personal style. Don't be afraid to try on different styles and ask for advice from your bridal stylist. Finding the perfect black wedding dress may take some time, but it will be worth it when you feel confident and beautiful on your special day.
When choosing the sleeves and length of a black wedding dress, there are several factors to consider. Firstly, consider the season of the wedding. Long sleeves are perfect for autumn and winter weddings, while short or sleeveless dresses are suitable for spring and summer weddings. Secondly, consider the formality of the wedding. If it's a formal wedding, long sleeves and a full-length dress are more appropriate, while a casual wedding allows for more flexibility in sleeve and dress length. Finally, consider personal style and comfort. Choose a sleeve and dress length that makes you feel comfortable and confident on your special day.
When it comes to sleeves, there are different types to consider. Long sleeves are classic and elegant, while three-quarter sleeves offer a more modern twist. For a bohemian look, consider bell sleeves or bishop sleeves. For a more daring look, opt for sheer or lace sleeves. As for dress length, there are several options. A full-length gown exudes sophistication, while a midi or tea-length dress is perfect for a vintage-inspired wedding. For a more contemporary look, consider a short dress or a two-piece set.
Choosing the sleeves and length of a black wedding dress requires careful consideration of the season, formality, personal style, and comfort. There are different types of sleeves and lengths available, including long sleeves, three-quarter sleeves, bell sleeves, bishop sleeves, sheer sleeves, full-length gowns, midi or tea-length dresses, short dresses, and two-piece sets. Choosing the right neckline for a black wedding dress is crucial in creating the perfect bridal look. The neckline can highlight your best features and complement your body shape. There are numerous neckline options for black wedding dresses, and each has its unique characteristics, benefits, and drawbacks.
Scoop Neckline
This neckline is a classic choice for any wedding dress and is characterized by its U-shape that dips low at the front. It is a versatile option that suits various body types and can be paired with different sleeve styles.
Deep V-Neckline
The deep V-neckline is a daring option that creates a bold and sultry look. It is a perfect choice for brides who want to showcase their curves. However, it is not suitable for brides with a large bust as it can draw too much attention to the chest area.

It is a versatile option that suits various body types and can create a flattering silhouette. However, it is essential to consider the depth of the V-neckline, as it can be too revealing for some brides.
When choosing a V-neckline black wedding dress, there are several factors to consider. Firstly, the depth of the V-neckline should be chosen according to the your comfort level and body type. Secondly, the width of the V-neckline should be considered, as it can affect the overall balance of the dress. A wider V-neckline can create a more dramatic look, while a narrower V-neckline can create a more subtle look. Lastly, the shape of the V-neckline should be chosen according to your face shape. A more rounded V-neckline can soften angular faces, while a more angular V-neckline can complement round faces.
Plunging Sweetheart Neckline
The plunging sweetheart neckline is a feminine and romantic option that accentuates your neckline. It is a flattering option for brides with a smaller bust, but it may not be suitable for those with a larger bust as it can be revealing.
Illusion Neckline

The mermaid skirt is a sleek and sexy style that hugs the body and flares out at the knees. The sheath skirt is a simple and elegant style that flows straight down from the waist to the floor.
The train of a black wedding dress can also be customized to match your personal preference. A chapel-length train is a popular choice that extends around 90cm – 120cm from the waistline, creating a graceful and elegant look.
A sweep train is a shorter option that extends a few centimeters from the hemline, creating a subtle and understated effect.
A cathedral-length train is a dramatic and regal option that extends over 200 centimeters from the waistline, creating a majestic effect. The train can be made of various materials such as tulle, lace, or satin, and can be embellished with sequins, beads, or embroidery to add a touch of glamour.
When choosing the right skirt and train for a black wedding dress, it's essential to consider your body type and wedding theme. For example, an A-line skirt is suitable for most body types and can complement a vintage or classic wedding theme. A ballgown skirt is ideal if you have a pear-shaped body, while a mermaid skirt is suitable if you possess an hourglass figure.
The train should also generally match the wedding venue and theme. A cathedral-length train is suitable for a grand and formal wedding, while a sweep train is perfect for an outdoor or beach wedding.
The skirt and the train of a black wedding dress are crucial elements that can enhance your beauty and confidence. You can choose from various styles, lengths, materials, and embellishments to create a unique and memorable look. Kim Kardashian’s wedding dress that she wore when she walked down the aisle to marry Kanye West in 2014 is a memorable celebrity gown. Kim’s custom-made wedding gown was designed and made for her by her close friend, Ricardo Tisci at Givenchy.
In true Kim style, the dress was a figure-hugging style that accentuated her shapely figure, long lace sleeves a sheer back with sheer panelling on the waist with a train and finished off with a cathedral length veil.

Kate Middleton’s 2011 wedding to Prince Williams made headlines around the world and has become an iconic design serving inspiration for many brides-to-be.
Kate wanted her wedding dress to be a combination of traditional and modern which she believed Alexander McQueen could deliver her vision into her gown.
Kate’s dress – specifically the bodice was inspired by the Victoria practice of corsetry – pulling in at the waist and padded slightly below the mid-section.
The dress comprised of;

Kate also had a second wedding gown for after the ceremony wear – a custom designed and made minimalistic style that featured a sweetheart neckline, an A line silhouette with a jewelled waistline detailing.
This gown was also another of Alexander McQueen’s creations. This reception dress ensured a more comfortable fit and easy to move around in. This gown was much less elaborate than her first dress but none the less just as beautiful.

Megan Markle’s 2018 wedding to Prince Harry saw the Duchess of Sussex enlist Claire Waight Keller at Givenchy to design her custom-made wedding gown.
The gown was designed and made in just 5 months and in absolute secrecy.
Minimalistic and modest, Megan’s dress was a 3/4 sleeved, a bateau (or “boat” neckline) neckline to show off her decolletage in a floor length sweeping style.
Whilst many raved about how classic and elegant this bridal gown choice was, some weren’t so impressed and pinned the reason being that the dress was ill fitted to Meghan’s body.
Many people questioned why; a royal bride would have a wedding dress that didn’t fit her body properly.
Apparently, there’s a good reason behind it.
Mehalia Chang, writer for Harper’s Bazaar wrote that the fabric selected by Meghan and the dress’s designer, Claire was “extremely thick” and the cut of the dress was to “let the bride move and breathe in the dress more comfortably.”
So, there you go, the dress was loose intentionally – so that Meghan could be a bit more comfortable on her wedding day.
Following in sister-in-law’s bridal footsteps, Meghan had a second dress – designed by Stella McCartney. This dress was a sleeker and chicer version of a bridal gown which featured a high halter neck showing off her shoulders and arms, following down to a relaxed mermaid fit with a sweeping train.

Another of Ralph Lauren’s brides which the brand has made a custom wedding dress for is Lily Collins.
Lily walked down the aisle in a custom-made Ralph Lauren wedding dress made from French Calais Caudry lace that featured a turtleneck neckline, long sleeves, Swarovski beaded flowers and silk organza petals which took more than 200 hours to be completed.
Instead of a veil, the bride chose a unique lace cloak style hood in cathedral length making her bridal aura incredibly ethereal and romantic.

Designer: Dior
Being a supermodel, Miranda can pick just about any bridal gown style imaginable and she’d knock the look out of the park – from super minimalist to over-the-top princess styles, she selected a design that was the best from both bridal worlds.
The custom-made wedding gown was designed by Miranda herself together with Dior’s creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuiri and drawing inspiration from Grace Kelly’s wedding dress which Miranda have said to be one of her biggest fashion influences.
The dress featured long sleeves, a high neck and a voluminous skirt that extended to a grand train in a cream-coloured satin fabric. Having drawn inspiration from Grace Kelly’s gown the key difference is Miranda’s dress was appliqued with lilies of the valley.
For a bride that’s known to the world for her incredible body and an asset to generate her millions in her career, why did she opt for a gown that was more modest rather than something that was showier?
“A dress that fully covers you creates a sense of purity and mystery,” she told Vogue. “I’ve had a lot of fun with fashion, and I used to be more wild, free, bohemian. But in this period of my life, my style is more pulled back. My greatest sources of inspiration have always been Grace, Audrey Hepburn, and my grandmother, who at 80 has an effortless chic: a nice pant, a white blouse, a scarf, a little heel.”

Designer: Off-White
Hayley Bieber’s often splashed in the news media in up to the minute outfits showing off her slender figure and enlisted Italian label Off White to design her a custom wedding gown. Virgil Abloh and his team created an incredible bridal piece fitting for the socialite to showcase a superbly stunning wedding dress.
Hayley oozes a cool, chic, and sophisticated vibe with many of her looks. She opted for long off the shoulder sleeves which is becoming hugely popular with brides everywhere.
The off-shoulder style with long sleeves and a sweetheart neckline showed off the bride’s decolletage that radiated subtle sexy while still being chic and modest.
The low back is a perfect way to add allure to a more modest style with intricate beading throughout the lace gown.
The designer label is known for it’s streetwear styles and it did a magical job in a traditional and feminine gown as Hayley’s wedding dress.
The bride finished off her look with a stunning veil with “Till death do us part” that was embroidered on the hemline of the veil. This touch was so extra and so freshly modern – just like her bride herself.

]]>There are many reasons why black has become a demanding colour for weddings. The dark, moody hue has the power to turn any wedding into something memorable and unique
What could be more memorable than a black wedding dress? The colour speaks volumes and reflection of your individuality. A black gothic wedding dress is a colour that brides typically choose, and this makes it even more special!
]]>Gothic weddings are a rejection of traditional wedding practice and the relationship it implies, in favour for something more darkly beautiful.
Gothic black wedding dresses is not for your typical bride. Of course not, and chances are you don’t consider yourself to be a conventional and traditional bride. Neither do you intend to go down that path, especially with an event that is as meaningful and eventful as your wedding day.
You’re a bride that wants to shake up the status quo. You want to celebrate your unique style and personality...in a gothic black bridal gown.
Black has been an increasingly popular colour for modern brides, incorporating more black hues in their overall wedding theme and of course their wedding dress. There are many reasons why black has become a demanding colour for weddings. The dark, moody hue has the power to turn any wedding into something memorable and unique
What could be more memorable than a black wedding dress? The colour speaks volumes and reflection of your individuality. A black gothic wedding dress is a colour that brides typically don't choose, and this makes it even more special!
More and more brides are stepping outside the traditional box of a white wedding dress and choosing a black wedding gown for the representation of themselves being unique and unconventional. A black wedding dress can also look incredibly breath taking and show stopping…of course, every bride’s #goals.
Here are some reasons why you should consider a black wedding dress.
1. Expressing your individuality
Picking a black wedding dress to wear on your special day is not just okay, it’s the perfect way of showing everyone your distinctive style and you’ll most definitely be one of the most memorable brides they will remember.
2. It's different
Brides are opting for this bold, dark, and elegant colour as it breaks the traditional bridal norm and expectations.
It's good to be different - in the most unique and beautiful way.
3. It is more practical than a white wedding gown
From the day that the bride picks up her wedding dress from the store right up to the moments she wears her gown, she'd most likely be a little worried about her white gown getting dirty or marked. Even a small stain will show on the white dress canvas making it another worry to add to your list.
A black wedding dress means you will have one less thing to think and worry about! Your black wedding dress will be much more resistant to stains throughout the day leaving you to focus on mingling with your guests and fully enjoying your day and night.
4. It is a universally flattering colour
Whoever said black doesn't suit you? Said no one ever. It's one of those colours that will work for anyone.
5. Black suits all body shapes
Whether you're petite, standard size or plus sized; a black wedding gown will make every inch of your body look and feel amazing. White dresses can be less forgiving when it comes to bride’s figure. Many brides end up feeling they have pick between "the right" style in order hide what's not quite so proud about themselves.
For example, the mid-section is a sensitive area which some brides feel uncomfortable about emphasizing and would opt for dress silhouettes such as A lines to conceal the tummy and flatter this area.
6. You can re-wear it
With a white wedding dress, you will likely only get to wear it once during your special day. However, with a black wedding dress there is plenty of opportunity for restyling and customizing post wedding day for future wear.
For example;
If you had a full-length black wedding gown you can get it restyled into a midi length to change the look and can be worn again for another event. With such versatility on offer, you get the most out of your money spent on this special gown as well as wearing a dress that you love.
7. The vast options available
With a black wedding gown, there are an abundance of looks you can choose from to suit your personal style perfectly.
Are you a bride that love a dark and mysterious elegance glamour? Consider a black lace wedding gown.
Have you always dreamed of an edgy Cinderella look? A black ball gown wedding dress combines the classic princess silhouette with a gothic edge appeal.
Are you a full-scale glamour queen? Combine lace tulle and shimmery black beading for that shimmer and luxe splendour.
8. It's truly beautiful
A white wedding gown is beautiful...but the unexpected beauty and dark allure of a black gothic bridal gown is undeniable. Isn't that one of the reasons why you're drawn to getting a black wedding gown for your wedding?
Magical black wedding gowns are perfect for creating an air of magic and intensity on your special day. A black wedding gown will make an unforgettable impression. This colour is both elegant and magical when paired with different fabrics textures or detailing - it's perfect whether your style tends towards the gothic bride or just modern brides wanting something memorable!
A gothic wedding means different things to different brides and couples but in essence a gothic wedding is a wondrous way to celebrate both partner’s desires and gravitation towards “the dark side”. It’s an expressive and unique way to convey both offbeat personalities through edgy yet sophisticated catering, florals and of course, your black wedding dress.
A gothic themed wedding can be surprisingly flexible to suit your individual taste. You can go all out or limit it to just enough so it feels romantic and mysterious. Gothic weddings are all about creating a sense of fantasy and magic with dark colours, luxurious details, an opulent colour palette. You can add in some exquisite details like gold trim for that extra touch of class.
For example, we previously published “Black Wedding Dresses – For The Dramatic Bride” featuring reality TV celebrity bride – Christine Quinn’s gothic winter wonderland themed wedding. Her wedding was far from all black but rather combined elements of black throughout to add that unexpected, dramatic yet elegant flair - including her drop dead gorgeous black wedding dress by Galia Lahav.
The wedding dress world is your oyster if you opt for a black wedding dress, with so many different custom options to make it uniquely yours!
Black lace wedding dresses can look amazing in so many different types of laces and silhouettes, from mermaid to A line to ball gown silhouettes.
For the brides that want to show off their curves in a fitted style mermaid black wedding gown, this silhouette will surely accentuate everything that your mama gave you!
A simple black wedding dress is perfect choice for minimalist brides. Although you may opt for a simple design but it will not be any less stunning as a more detailed style wedding gown.

A long train is always a spectacular view and creates an ethereal look to your wedding gown.
Pro tip: Contrary to popular beliefs that a long train will be hard to walk in but get your local tailor to shorten the front hem to make it easier for you to walk in and bustle the train or add a finger loop for when you want to make it easier to move around.
An open back is so alluring and chic. It can make any gown look amazing and when you combine it with a striking colour such as black for your wedding, you're guaranteed a head turning gown.

Regardless of whether you have a summer or winter wedding, there are plenty of styles that can incorporate long sleeves in the bridesmaid dresses to suit your wedding theme, your personal preference, style and of course the weather.
For example, if you have a wedding in autumn or spring, the days could be a little warm in the daytime and slightly cooler at night. A long sleeve bridesmaid dress style that incorporates a mid-weight fabric that can keep your girls warm.
If you have a wedding in the warmer months, a lighter fabric type with short sleeves, mid or longer length sleeves will still give the coverage whilst staying cool.

There are plenty of options to explore if you are considering long sleeve bridesmaid dresses - different fabric types, sleeve lengths and types, fit of the dresses such as fitted or flowy.
Sleeve types can definitely jazz up the look of the entire dress aesthetics. If you are bored of just seeing the straight fitted sleeves everywhere, consider other sleeve types as below;
Bell sleeves
Bell sleeves are fitted around the shoulder and upper arm and flares out to the wrist. This type of sleeve is created to have an appearance reminiscent of a bell in its shape.
Bell sleeves can come in different sleeve lengths. Bell sleeves end anywhere from the elbow to the wrist.
Bishop sleeves
Bishop sleeves are gathered at the hem to a fitting plain cuff band. The sleeve is fitted at the armhole but gradually widens as it reaches the hem, where the fullness is contained with the cuff.
A bishop sleeve can be slightly voluminous or it can be very full and billowy and made in a flowy drape fabric. The bishop sleeve can create a very feminine silhouette and overall a very romantic look.
Cape style sleeves
Cape sleeves are long and flowing sleeves that resemble the look of capes. The fabric is gathered at the shoulder and flows out like a cape from there.
Balloon sleeves
Balloon sleeves are long, puffed sleeves that are gathered at the shoulder and then puffed out and gather back at the wrist. This is often an exaggerated sleeve look and is voluminous. The entire sleeve has a puff at the wrist rather than a tapered finish.
Lantern sleeves
Lantern sleeves is a long sleeve that balloons out between the wrist and the elbow and then gathers again around the wrist.
Batwing sleeves
Batwing sleeves have a deep armhole and gets increasingly narrow towards the wrist. This makes it look like wings, which give it's reference name to "bat wings".
Butterfly sleeves
Very similar to bell sleeves, a butterfly sleeve flares out from the shoulder but it usually does not fully cover the arm and usually finishes mid upper arm or to elbow length.

Setting upon a decision can be difficult for some brides, but the right guide helps make it easier.
Whether you’re undecided and don’t know what colour you want, or perhaps you want a particular colour but not having any luck with finding what you want – we can help.
]]>Planning a wedding can be overwhelming. All the decisions...because the choices, the aesthetics is a reflection of both the bride and groom’s personality, there are so many details involved in making this day work!
Setting upon a decision can be difficult for some brides, but the right guide helps make it easier. Many aspects of planning your wedding can come naturally - knowing what you want and going to look for them. There are other times when indecision takes over; this is perfectly understandable too because of all the choices, options or purely just the fact that you just aren’t sure.
Let’s talk bridesmaid dresses. The below is by no means an exhaustive list, but the most common questions you will need to consider prior to shopping for your bridesmaid dresses.
Before shopping for a dress, most brides are already thinking about the colour of their bridesmaid dresses. They will often pick out what they want in advance and then find an appropriate style to go with it—usually after seeing how colours work with different venue settings and colour schemes.
When choosing the best colour for your bridesmaid dresses, there's no magic formula that you need to follow. But here are some considerations when making this choice:
1. Colour Inspiration
Have you seen other weddings on social media that have certain colours or themes in them? Pinterest is a great site to get inspiration for your wedding. You can create boards of themes or colours that you love, then filter down the ones where there's something unique about them - like their colour!
2. What is your personal style?
With such a large variety of colours to choose from, you may find yourself overwhelmed! It's important that your personality and personal style are taken into consideration when making this decision. Are you someone who prefers earth tones or do you draw inspiration from bolder shades?
Or another way to pick your bridesmaid dress colours is to consider your own personal preferences. What is your favourite colour?
What a fun way to choose your colour palette based off your favourite colour!
Your personality and personal style will ultimately have an influence as to the colour you choose. Are you a minimalist and love more earthy and neutral tones? It would make perfect sense if you chose more muted colours within this colour palette than a bold and contrasting colour.
3. The Location
Your chosen location will likely set the tone of your chosen colour as you would likely want to match your bridesmaid dress colours to suit and compliment the location and venue.
4. The Season Of Your Wedding
When planning your wedding, take into consideration what colours best match the season. For example a winter event would be more appropriate with darker shades like deep greens or blues while summertime weddings can have offbeat colours such as fuchsia, corals etc. The right colour palette will make all aspects of celebrations seem fun!
5. Your Bridesmaid's Skin Colour And Skin Tones
You want your bridesmaids to look their best so be mindful in your selection of a colour that will compliment your bridesmaid’s skin colour and tones. Some colours such as peaches, nudes or pastel shades may wash your girl’s complexion. It is important to find a dress colour which they love and compliments them. You don't want any disappointed girls!
6. The Dress Fabric
You may have not thought much about the style or fabric of your bridesmaid dresses yet but it’s worth considering what kind you want. It’s worth noting that some bridal stores don’t offer or carry certain colours in all dress designs. So you may find a dress at a local bridal store in the exact colour you want but the style isn’t what you want. Or you may encounter a situation in which you love a particular bridesmaid dress style yet it’s not offered in the colour you want. So there may be a compromise somewhere along the lines if you run into one of the aforementioned situations.
Your wedding should be a combined reflection of yours and your fiancé’s personalities and style. If you’re still at a loss as to what colour to choose for your bridesmaid dresses, try considering what your visions for your wedding will be.
Classic and flattering colours that work to not only compliment many different skin tones but also quite flattering in many bridesmaid dress designs.
Try navy, burgundy, forest, emerald green, eggplant, blush.
Timeless soft beautiful tone - blush bridesmaid dresses
Transfer the minimalism essence to your wedding with colours such as black, nude, beige, grey.
Muted tone and chic - grey bridesmaid dresses
Add bright and fun colours such as coral, lime, fuchsia, mint, canary yellow.
Chic, both classic and on trend - mint bridesmaid dresses

Bright and bold colours will ensure it contrasts against your white wedding gown (this is based upon the assumption that you have selected to wear a traditional white wedding gown). Bright red shades, teal, black, cobalt blue.
Bold and statement - red bridesmaid dresses
Incorporate colours associated with the seaside vibe in any shade of blues, beiges or champagnes look amazing against a beach setting wedding.
With an outdoor wedding the colour options to suit are almost endless.

It's no surprise then, why this hue was so popular in wedding dresses just as much - if not more than other colours throughout history.
It is said that all changed when Queen Victoria picked a bright white dress for her wedding day in 1840. From there, wealthy men insisted their bride-to wear only the finest fabric and lace with no expense spared on show; this became not just an act of pride but also one way they could distinguish themselves from other members within society who did not have such wealth or position.
From then on it became common for a bride-to be dresses to be in one colour – pure white, thereby establishing and became part of bridal culture in the western society.
But now, we’re in the 21st century and wearing white on your wedding day has been a tradition that many brides have stepped away from, entering the world of colour once again – especially picking black for their wedding dress.
Picking a black wedding dress to wear on your special day is not just okay, it’s the right thing. You are going out there in front of everyone – your family and friends and making a statement about who YOU truly ARE so why shouldn’t this be something that reflects how proud or excited we feel on your most special day?
A black wedding gown may not be appropriate for every situation – especially if it is important to consider the acceptance of the black colour on your wedding day if you have certain family obligations which require adhering to. As such, if you are bound by family or cultural traditions, then a black wedding gown may not be the right choice.
But...if your wedding is modern, more liberal and open to your self-expression then your dream black wedding dress awaits you, ready for the wedding of your dreams! So if this is the case, go ahead and wear a black wedding dress and be confident expressing yourself in the most amazing way.
You probably have done your fair share of googling and searching online for dress inspiration of your black wedding gown.

Weddings are changing and couples now want a wedding day as individual as they are. Weddings are a time to celebrate, and it's important that the day feels personal. More and more couples want their wedding ceremony just like any other appointment in life: individualized to suit their personal style and preference - not necessarily what others will think or what is traditionally done.
Whilst there will always be traditional church weddings, many new age brides and grooms are opting for civil ceremonies in hotels, forests, woodland settings etc. As such, bride’s choice with their wedding dress, particularly the colour choice has shifted too.
Wedding dresses are not just white anymore with brides are going against tradition to make their own statement. Whether this choice is because they want the unconventional venue, or if it symbolizes something more important like picking your favourite colour, a coloured wedding dress will sure be an unforgettable moment that you wear yours.
Choosing a wedding dress is probably one of the most difficult choices you will have to make and should be approached with joy and anticipation. There are so many options to choose from when you're looking for your perfect wedding dress and it's almost impossible not feel excited or overwhelmed. Colour is a reflection of how you feel and also how a colour can make you feel.
Again, there are no rules when it comes to wedding dresses and especially, a coloured wedding gown but here we will give you a rundown of the symbolism behind the different colours.
Coloured wedding dresses: when the traditional just isn't enough
Western bridal culture is heavily influenced by the tradition of wearing white on your wedding day. The white wedding dress has long been a symbol of purity but the tradition actually originates from the trend that British monarch Queen Victoria set when she decided to wear a white wedding gown on her wedding day in 1840, simply because she really liked the colour. Furthermore, the colour became popular in the 19th century not for it’s symbolism of the colour white but rather it showed wealth and prestige. Since then, the white wedding dress has become an iconic symbol of Western bridal culture.
Colour wedding dresses provide a stunning alternative to the traditional white gown. It can truly reflect your personality and let it shine on through on one of the most important days of your life!
The most popular and traditional colour choice is white. The colour white typically represents purity, innocence, fresh beginnings and positivity.
White continues to be a traditional colour of choice for many brides and also for cultural or religious reason, and as a general well known rule, wedding guests are discouraged from wearing white themselves to avoid overshadowing the bride on her wedding day.
There are many shades of white wedding gowns with ivory becoming a widely popular choice for brides. As a standalone colour, ivory can even look quite white because it is considered a shade variation of a white wedding dress. As such, the symbolism behind the choice of an ivory coloured wedding dress is typically the same as that to a white wedding gown.
Some people believe that ivory means that the bride is no longer pure and is not able to wear white so opt for the closest alternative – being the ivory. That belief has changed considerably as many brides feel that a pure white does not suit their skin tone very well whilst ivory is less harsh and much more complimentary.

Nude Coloured Wedding Dresses
Not all brides like the idea of an all white wedding dress but perhaps you don’t want to opt for a full coloured wedding dress. A fabulous alternative is a white wedding gown with a nude undertone. This has become an increasingly popular option for a modern, stylish and ultra-elegant look.
A “nude” coloured wedding dress means that instead of a white wedding dress being fully enveloped in white (including the lining), the secondary layer is a barely there, warmer tone or nude colour fabric with the white on top. This creates a more muted white tone which has been more favoured by modern brides.
There are many shades of nude undertones from a soft beige nude to mid-nude tones to much darker tan nude shades. Nude undertones can also be used to create the “naked” look effect. This is achieved with the appearance of showing skin without actually exposing anything at all. This is particularly suitable for the bride that is bold and wants to make a sexy statement.

What’s more, black wedding dresses aren’t always chosen by gothic brides. Modern brides are choosing black wedding gowns for the power, sophistication, wealth and mysterious appeal the colour represents.
Black wedding dresses are the perfect choice for brides who are unafraid to stand out in their own unique way with bold tastes that others may find unconventionally intriguing. It’s an unexpected change from the traditional white choice for wedding dresses.

]]>In a time of global uncertainty, understand that there most likely will be delays and changes to the standard times and processes. This makes it even harder to determine an ideal window of time for wedding dress shopping because you don’t want it too early or too late.
You don’t want to go early. If you do, you may fall in love with a dress you perhaps aren’t ready to buy because it’s out of your budget – if you haven’t already set a budget.
You may not have done a lot of research so you need to be clear on what your allocated budget is, the dress style you like and you may just completely change your mind after seeing and trying on a range of other gowns. So if you order way too early, it can be a bit risky with these causes.
Also, if you plan on losing a significant amount of weight from the time when you order your wedding dress to your actual day this poses another issue where in addition to spending money towards alterations (wherein they make it fit properly); one will also have compromised their gown's silhouette and structure due such major modifications. Adversely, leaving it too close will pose it’s own set of problems.
Most wedding gowns are ordered in so it takes some time to arrive into store which makes it hard for brides to navigate this window.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, it was suggested that you start researching twelve months prior, plan and book in bridal appointments approximately ten months out from your wedding date with the goal of placing your dress order six to eight months before.
The dress would arrive; you'd have your first fitting and start considering necessary alterations. Depending on where and who does the work it could take anywhere from a few weeks up to two months.
Lead times certainly have changed since the COVID-19 pandemic.
With lockdowns, extended lockdowns and restrictions it has made operations almost impossible at prior capacity levels. It takes eight to fourteen months before dresses come in which means brides need jump on planning and shopping if they want a dress that fits them perfectly because there is no guarantee there won't be any future lockdowns.
Many brides are surprised to learn that it takes months for a wedding dress to arrive into store – even under normal circumstances.
Why?
The process of creating a wedding dress is complex and time-consuming.
First, the pattern for the dress must be created from scratch which requires many months to do so. Then comes applying any embellishments such as sequins or beads before sewing on appliques like lace trimming around hems and necklines.
Furthermore, there are quite a few orders that each designer must fill. A bride may have ordered their dress before you or need it earlier than you do. There is so much planning and coordination at play in this process of creating the dresses. This includes sourcing all the raw materials for your wedding gown from different parts of the world, manufacturing them on time to meet your order deadline with quality workmanship - think zippers, beads, fabrics etc.
The pandemic is affecting the store from receiving its shipment from international shipping. Now with COVID-19 pandemic, freight and cargo availabilities are much more limited and operating at reduced capacities which thereby require further time to store.
Dresses may get caught up in custom clearance when it's making its way to you. COVID-19 is impacting normal operations, adding additional time onto the timeline of receiving your dress.
The COVID-19 epidemic has had an unexpected effect on the wedding dress industry. Firstly, in countries where lockdowns have been imposed to contain the virus spread, many manufacturing facilities have had adhere to mandatory shut down.
Production schedules are falling behind on existing orders due to the disruption in operations. This makes it difficult for to deliver to the standard order times, and has caused new orders to be pushed further out.
Start early with thinking about your wedding dress.
Let’s say you’re recently engaged and there’s 14 months out from your intended wedding date, it would be ideal to give yourself a few months to think about the style of dress you like, what you see yourself in, determine the budget for your dress and the bridal stores you would like to visit.
You may think; you don’t know what styles suit you or what kind of dress is suitable without seeing it on you first but the main thing is to think about it and just have a few ideas in mind. This isn’t set in stone but it gives you a good basis to start your search and wedding dress planning and shopping.
As your wedding dress is one of the most elements of your wedding, it’s important to think about how much you are willing to spend and what you can afford to spend on this special dress.
In fact, this is one of our top pieces of advice about shopping for your wedding dress. Make it a priority to establish your budget early on in the planning process. Read more here about why it is important to do so here.
Though we usually don't recommend purchasing a dress too early, with the changes COVID-19 has caused in terms of sourcing and manufacturing it is now more important than ever to start shopping sooner rather than later.
If you’re a bride with an upcoming wedding within 6-9 months, albeit some obstacles you are still available options to get your perfect dress. We can help you on an individual basis so don’t stress too much at this point.
What if the dress you ordered never arrives? It can be incredibly stressful to receive an email from a store saying that your wedding dress will not arrive on time or at all.
That said, be mindful that the bridal store has most likely done everything they could prior to contacting you. This means there's been plenty of discussion with suppliers and negotiating potential solutions as it pertains how best for this problem to resolve itself so minimal delay is experienced overall.
Nobody anticipates these unexpected delays relating to COVID-19 but unfortunately, it’s becoming a part of our lives. In cases where there's not much that can be done due an external factor beyond what the store itself truly controls.
You may think;
“I paid a significant deposit on my dress so I don’t have money to go buy another dress that I like”,
or perhaps
“This is not fair on me, the store needs to compensate me for the fact that my dress will not be coming in on time.”
Most stores won’t provide a refund due to the fact the order has been placed which they will have passed on the payment to the designer to get your dress ordered and made. Legally, they have not breached any obligations to deliver your dress and they are still upholding their sale commitments however these external disruptions is an issue that will likely be handled differently from store to store.
It’s a stressful and unfortunate situation and you have more than likely secured a booking in with all the wedding vendors so you still need a wedding dress for your big day.
A few options in tackling this situation;
Most bridal consultants will ask for your wedding date when you book in an appointment with them.
This is so that there's adequate time between the order and delivery of dresses, which can take up to six months on average. Each designer has their own specific lead times; therefore it's important that each store make sure they have enough space available for both orders at a convenient time-frame as well as suit what designers are looking out after most: quality workmanship!
If you’re a bride in the situation of being in the last few months out to your wedding date, there are a few things that you can consider.
The first thing you should do when looking for your dream dress is request the store if they offer a rush service. A time-sensitive order means it gets prioritized and jumps past all other people's orders. The store will accept your request if the designer allows for rush orders.
Rush orders will incur additional charges as your order is made a priority, which means the designer has to stop production of other dresses. As such, rush fee can vary anywhere between 10% and 30% in additional to the regular price of the gown.
This may sound like a lot, but it’s a decision for you to weigh up if it’s worth it to get the dress you love – at a slightly higher price than you had originally planned or go for another dress that is perhaps not one that you love as much.
You can consider your other available options in getting a wedding gown- including buying one from the rack. Perhaps there is an identical sample of style you like on display or maybe another option suits better. There may be other dresses in store that are similar but not exactly like what you has in mind – but it may just work, try the dresses out and who know, you may just find another style or dress you fall in love with.
A sample dress should be close to your correct size. For obvious reasons, a too small or oversized garment looks awful and won't make the most of your figure in any way possible so make sure that you get an accurate idea with how many alterations may need made before buying this item as well.
Bear in mind that if you do buy a sample dress, it should be close to your correct size. For obvious reasons, a dress too small isn’t an option because it simply doesn’t fit.
If you have found a dress you like and it fits quite big, ensure where possible to buy only two sizes bigger than your size or measurements to be workable. A dress that is a couple of sizes too big for you will create more work with alterations, and the result can be an unflattering look. It may be very difficult to alter the dress so that it resembles what the original dress’s design or silhouette is due to the major modification alteration work.
If you’re a bride that has decided to or have to postpone your wedding date, you may have a lot of questions about what’s going to happen with your dress.
Can the bridal shop deliver your wedding dress at a later date?
What if you don’t fit your wedding dress by the time you have set a new wedding date?
What if you change your mind about your dress?
Each bridal boutique has their own policies as to what they will do with your dress once it is ready for collection at their store.
Some are quite happy to hold onto your dress for a few more months until your new date. Some may charge you a holding and storage fee to hold your dress after your collection date has passed. Some stores may require you to collect your dress as per the agreed delivery date.

]]>It's Yen here on the Envious Bridal & Formal blog with a quick news update with our business.
Please read on below.
The lives of millions of babies in developing countries are filled with constant struggle. They must fight for their very survival every day, and often they lose that battle before it has even begun.
The situation is unimaginable. It must be like living a nightmare as the mothers are terrorized by their children’s cries, watching on helplessly as they waste away over the course of months because there is no food to feed the child.
It is an incredible tragedy to see babies and children in these famine stricken countries wake up starving yet go to bed, still be hungry. Children with so little nutrition, that from the moment they're born, they’re struggling to survive a mountain of disadvantages.
It’s a struggle to survive. It’s a hardship that no child should ever have to go through.
A mother would never want their child starving; they'd gladly sacrifice anything for. It’s probably their dream to be able to provide a proper feed for their children.
How humble and heart breaking is that?
It shatters my heart to imagine how these innocent little beings are suffering so immensely. As a mother myself, the crisis of famine and acute malnutrition in babies and children hits me on such a deep level.
We are so lucky and most of the times we don’t even realize it.
It is important to take a step back, appreciate all that you have when in possession of more than what someone else has been deprived of.
We are all given a chance at life, yet some have it worse than others. We may not be able to save everyone but the least we can do is help wherever we can – even if that means saving just one person.
I think we are very fortunate and believe in giving back and supporting these communities.
Effective today, my business will donate 5% from all sales going towards charitable organizations that provide assistance to these children in need. This donation is ongoing, and it will continue indefinitely as long as we can.
You can feel good about buying from us because not only will you be doing something great for yourself, but every purchase helps support a cause that impacts others too!
I hope my business is able to provide a little bit of relief from the unfortunate circumstances these babies and children find themselves in through this initiative.

A couple of weeks ago marked my eleventh-year marriage anniversary with my husband. We have three small children – a six year old, three year old and an eight month baby. Celebrating can be difficult at times - but this never took away from how special the day is in retrospect.
We celebrated as a family with our favourite home cooked meal – super crunchy fried chicken wings, eating in our comfy clothes with the kid’s movie Pets playing in the background.
Anyway, earlier that day to celebrate the occasion, I decided to dive into the depths of my cupboard where my wedding dress has been hanging there for over a decade since I got married. When the celebratory day was over, my dress was sent to the dry-cleaners and has resided in the same place in the cupboard to this day.
Many countries around the world are in sporadic coronavirus lock-down and if you happen to be in this position and looking for something to do while home because of pandemic, here’s an idea.
Try on your wedding dress!
On the morning of June 19th I went to my spare room to take out my wedding dress. Inside in the corner of my cupboard storage hung a zippered garment bag. Inside was a strapless white lace wedding dress with an accented beaded bodice. My reception red silk evening dress also accompanied my white dress. Both dresses have been hanging in the same spot since the day I moved into my house and left there to commemorate the special day.
I hung the dresses up and slowly unzipped the garment bag to reveal the dress I wore on this day...eleven years ago to date. A rush of excitement washed over me as the day’s memories came rushing back to me.
Once out of the bag, I noticed some colour transfer from my red dress to the white one. It didn’t bother me because the wedding dress was still beautiful. It was still exactly as how I remembered it.
I was at my bridal store in between bridal appointments, I got to experience my bridal feels again. The experience turned out to be so much more meaningful and nostalgic than an activity to kill time and provide a little entertainment.
When I stepped into the gown, the first thing I noticed was the dress’s simplicity and train length. Did I appreciate the elegance when I first wore it on my wedding day? I don’t think so – I think I caught up in the day’s festivities and exhilaration it kind of slipped right by me to truly appreciate my wedding gown.
Time to zip up the dress.
I guess it was time for a body truth check, I had three kids and eleven years of marriage under my belt now. I was shaking with anticipation as the dress is zipped up, barely containing my excitement to see if it still fits.
My sister in law (and also bridal assistant) exclaimed "Nope! I can't zip it up any further."
I felt a bit dismayed for a split second because my dress didn’t zip up fully. Then, surprisingly enough, that moment of disappointment was driven away when I realized how fortunate to have had the opportunity over the past eight years to exercise regularly.
I had dedicated a fair amount of time with shoulder and back exercises - seated rows, pull ups, lat pull-downs, shoulder presses, deadlifts...just to name a few. You know the whole fitness tactic for achieving that more tapered look – hinging on the optical illusion of having an amazingly small waist by building your shoulders and lats.
I reminded myself that my fitness efforts have paid off rather than the fact that I can’t fully zip up my dress.
Fitting into my wedding dress - that was a big deal to me, as I suspect it would be for any former bride turned mum years later on.
As I stood in front of the mirror, I was enthralled by the beauty of the dress once again.
The dress’s features – like the beautiful iridescent lace...the button up look at the back with the statement silk bow tie made me feel like the excited bride once again.
My mind drifted back to that wonderful time when my husband and I started the beginning of our lives together. Newlyweds with an abundance of time and only ourselves in a quiet house. Don’t get me wrong - we still have just as much joy, love, happiness and laughter in it today even though in the last six years we’ve continually welcomed new little members to our lives and household – each of our wonderful boys.
On any given day I'm juggling a million things and it feels like I never get to take time for myself. Even when I do, my mind is always in the future or past thinking about what's coming next. So it was nice to take a few moments to relive and enjoy being in the moment wearing my wedding dress.
I see many brides these days sell their pre-loved wedding dress online at some point. Whatever reason that may be – the tangible dress is now just taking up space, they no longer want to hold onto the dress because perhaps it’s too painful to keep or maybe their anger and hurt made the dress feel toxic to have in the house... or maybe trying to recoup the cost of the wedding dress because they paid big bucks for it and there’s no point in keeping it stored away. Whatever the reason may be, I totally understand and respect that.
Rounding this up, I’d like to suggest to you a try on your wedding dress challenge.
I had such a delightful experience trying on my wedding dress again after all these years. It really brought back beautiful memories and feelings, almost like it was yesterday.
If you are still happily married, I am so happy for you! You’ll probably feel the bridal elation all over again as you did when you wore your dress for the first time on your wedding day.
If you are no longer married, I am deeply sorry. What I'm trying to say is that your wedding dress was a significant item; symbolizing an exceptionally beautiful time in life. At the time when you wore your dress, you were likely in love as only a bride can be.
You probably went on and had the child or children of your dreams too!
So, take your dress out from storage, try it on.
It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t zip up all the way. Let yourself feel all of those wonderful sentimental feelings come back to you. Enjoy the emotions that you may feel. Laugh...cry...smile, because you probably experienced at least one of those feelings at your wedding.
Regardless of where you are today, tears might be imminent. Tears of joy or sadness? Maybe both! Crying is healthy so don't worry about it too much - just let the tears flow. If you have the guts to try on your wedding dress, go for it; this experience may offer something more than physical beauty - a path to healing and acceptance.

If you’re a PETITE BRIDE:
The most common wedding dress advice you will hear is that petite brides should never wear a ball gown or mermaid style, as these cuts make a bride appear shorter.
How disappointing to imagine you can't wear one of the classic and beautiful silhouettes for your big day!
But that shouldn’t be the case.
If you are a petite bride wanting a princess wedding dress but worried that this silhouette will make you look shorter, follow our top tips below.
If you’re a PLUS SIZE BRIDE:
When we label people, it can cause them to limit themselves.
Just because you are a plus size bride does not mean that your choices in wedding dress styles is more limited than if you were considered "standard" sized.
You CAN have the dress of your dreams, look amazing and be comfortable with yourself as both a fuller woman AND as a beautiful bride.
Don’t let any labels prohibit you from having YOUR dream princess style gown for the most special day of your life.
Your fuller figure can look absolutely amazing in a princess wedding dress. In fact, this style can be very flattering on your body shape with the right styling by following a few simple rules.
Sometimes it’s hard to believe that fairy tales can come true, until you find your plus size princess wedding dresses.

Our goal when making our wedding dress designs was simple: we wanted every bride who tried on her dream gown feel like an actual princess--no matter their shape or size.
Princess gowns are unique and versatile wedding dresses, but many people think they're only for certain types of brides – which is not the case.
Considering a princess wedding dress? Here are a few very common questions.
Can I wear a princess wedding dress even if my venue is not the traditional type?
Absolutely! While your venue can help you determine your bridal style, you can wear a ball gown down the aisle no matter where you say "I do."
Does my princess dress have to have beading?
While common, a princess wedding dress does not require embellishments.
If you are looking for an elegant yet understated look on your big day with minimal beading, play up the princess vibe with a lux fabric such as satin or silk then combine these stunning fabrics with a crispy and effortless silhouette such as an A line style.

]]>The world is full of beautiful dresses for every occasion, but none are more special than the stunning dress you'll wear on your wedding day.
Let’s get started...don’t leave your dress dreams a dream...we can help you!
]]>One of the most heavily emphasized elements of a wedding is the beautiful bridal dress that you wear, so it’s no surprise when a lot time and effort is invested in trying to find that perfect one when shopping around Perth or searching online.
The hunt for an exquisite wedding gown can take months to find and many more hours trying on dresses in search of perfection before finally finding "the one."
Whilst most brides aspire to wear a timeless and forever classic white or ivory wedding dress on their big day, if red is more what you have in mind for yourself then read on!
Red may not be traditional choice but chances are – you aren’t going for the classic bridal look. You’re one unique and confident bride-to-be. You love the idea of breaking away from the conventional and want to make a memorable statement that expresses your true individuality.
If you are considering a red wedding dress for your special day, read on below.
A red wedding gown is not for the faint hearted and will definitely make a bold statement! You’re a bride that is likely full of confidence not only in yourself but also with your choice of wedding dress colour!
Celebrate your most special day with the most breath taking dress...
While red is an unconventional colour for wedding dresses, more modern brides are choosing to wear it because of the symbolism it holds;
Colours are often associated closely with particular meanings and this can also be applied to the choice of wedding dress colours. White is ascribed to purity and new beginnings.
Red has more emotional associations than any other colour. The colour is inherently bold and attention getting and is a representation of love, passion and desire – which are great elements in a relationship and moving forward to marriage.
Sounds good? Red may be the perfect colour for you.
There’s a number of reasons why a bride may choose a red wedding dress, do you fall in one of the below categories?
1. Cultural tradition
In some cultures it is a traditional practice to wear a red bridal outfit or dress with the belief of what the colour’s symbolic meaning. For example; Hindu brides wear red on their wedding day based on the belief of fertility and prosperity within the marriage.
2. Make a unique bridal statement
In the Chinese tradition, red is a colour that symbolizes good luck, happiness and prosperity and wearing red on the wedding day is believed to transfer the blessing over to the newlyweds.
3. Make a unique bridal statement
A red wedding will definitely make a statement and if you’ve opted for this striking hue, there’s no doubt you are one completely confident bride! If you’re the type of person who loves something unique and different and a white gown just won’t cut it for you, red is your choice. What’s more, there’s no better time to express the red colour association with love, passion and romance than on the day you are marrying the one you love.
4. Your favourite colour is red
Is your favourite colour red?
Sometimes it’s just as simple as that your favourite thing is something you want to include in aspects of your life which in this case is incorporating your favourite colour into your wedding dress. If you love red and that’s the colour you want to go ahead with your wedding dress, your choice is justified.
It's your wedding day and you're faced with one of the most monumental decisions - choosing a dress.
Some brides who want to break the mold in their wedding dress can find solace with red dresses that don’t conform to society's standards of what is considered "traditional." Red weddings are not an uncommon sight these days it seems like all sorts of bold decisions from gown colour choices on down have been popping up more often than ever before.
If you have ever contemplated opting for a wedding dress in another colour other than white, go with what your heart desires. If that is a red wedding dress, then do not hesitate and give it all the love you can muster!
Red is often considered to be elegant or even romantic; it also goes well as an accent colour in many different styles including vintage lace gowns and lacy tea length dresses made famous by royalty such as Queen Elizabeth II.
White wedding dresses are a beautiful tradition, but if you're looking for something different and more refreshing then there's no reason not to go with red.
With your choice of a red wedding gown, you have the opportunity to choose between many different shades and fabrics that come together in unique ways for individual brides.
By contrast to the traditional white or ivory shades, there are much more varieties for shades of red from bright reds such as scarlet to rose reds, coral reds or deep reds like wine red to burgundy. Whatever choice of red you pick, it will unquestionably head turning!
Red is available for every type fabric or if the fabric is white, it can even be custom dyed into whatever shade of red desired by a bride’s preference. Please note – not all bridal stores or dressmakers can or will be able to accommodate this selection.
Depending on what dress silhouette you want, picking out the type of specific fabric will not only compliment your wedding dress design but also flatter your body shape. Materials such as laces, silks, tulles or a combination of different materials can make that special red wedding dress stand out from all others in its class--unique to just you!
With the white wedding dress being the standard, red wedding dresses are a rare find among the traditional white.
This is because they're not as conventional and therefore take more time for people who specialize in them to make versus those that have a bulk of their inventory stocked just waiting on your typical bride-to-be's request.
Looking at bridal boutiques isn't always easy when they don't stock specialty colours. Chances are – you may have already checked at your local bridal stores and perhaps even scoped out the online options.
Getting a red wedding dress doesn’t have to be a painful experience because it’s not available in store for you to try on or pick from. The manner in searching for and buying a coloured wedding dress is somewhat similar to the traditional white wedding dress with a few different processes.
This bride's vision...go statement or go home!
That train - dramatic, stunning, unforgettable.
A red wedding gown is so...beautifully enchanting.
Below is our suggested process to get started with buying a red wedding dress.
1. Dress style
Do you have a dress design or style in mind? For example; do you want a fitted style, flowy or perhaps a princess or ball gown style wedding dress? If you aren’t too sure, it’s best if you can go try on a few different silhouettes to get an idea of what suits your body shape and what you like.
2. Research for custom dressmakers
If you are intending on getting your dress locally made, conduct some research on local dressmakers or bridal stores that specialize in custom made garments that are able to make the dress for you.
Depending on where you are located, you may have a few stores to choose from. Of course pricing is one of the determining factors whether you go ahead with a particular store but don’t let it be your only deciding factor as cheap doesn’t always equate best!
3. Research online for specialist dressmakers
If you haven’t been able to locate a local store that can help you, you can try your luck online. If you are happy and confident to work with an online custom bridal dressmaker, the process should be relatively straightforward and they will be able to guide you through the custom made process for your wedding dress.
Once you find that perfect specialty dressmaker, they will be right alongside you to take your journey to create that truly distinctive wedding dress of your dreams.
The right specialist understands how significant these choices are for their customers; someone who has experienced heartbreak or happiness when finding "the" dress themselves could provide invaluable insight into helping you.
A bride in a red wedding gown is truly a ravishing bride.

We have absolutely gorgeous colour options in addition to our selection of stunning white ones so there is sure to be one perfect for you out there somewhere!

]]>I know how important it is for your dress to be perfect so let's start this journey together!
]]>
I had been on the hunt for my perfect wedding gown for over three months now; every weekend, I would go into one bridal shop after another looking at all their gowns just hoping something would jump out and say "pick me!" but nothing ever did.
I tried out several styles, knowing what kind of style complimented me best...but then again when you're looking for something as special as your dream gown - maybe being too picky is never actually such a sin.
The first bridal boutique I went to didn’t have many of the mermaid style that I was after, and it wasn't accepting orders less than twelve months.
The second location had a few dresses in their store which caught my eye but they just weren't quite right for me - nothing felt as perfect and magical as what I had envisioned.
At the third bridal store, I came across this amazing dress. It had all of the qualities I was looking for; all lace with a small amount of embellishments on the bodice in a mermaid silhouette with a modest train. The dress was simple yet elegant in style.
I thought I had found the perfect dress.
The problem is that this gown cost $3.5k – which is more than I could afford.
Don’t get me wrong; I wasn’t expecting for this dress to be cheap but spending this amount of money made me a little uncomfortable. It was a shame because this gown was so beautiful and I really did like it.
I went around to a few more bridal stores hoping that there would be something in store windows or on display racks that gave me butterflies in my stomach as soon as I saw it – you know when you feel really excited? But nothing was doing anything for me.
I asked for some design modifications to the gown but instead of helping out this anxious bride-to-be who just wanted her perfect daydreams come true, they charged exorbitant fees on top of the dress price.
I was really disappointed with their lack of flexibility when it came to customizing my dream wedding dress and am now wondering how much more money I’d have to spend to get what I want.
The search for my perfect dress was a difficult one. I just wanted to find my perfect dress and move on – not drag it out for months on end but it seemed as though finding a wedding dress was the most difficult thing to do!
By this point in time, all of that searching had drained me emotionally and left me dismayed by the whole thing.
I didn’t really know what I was going to do next.
I had an upcoming holiday trip to Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam with my family as well as my future in laws.
Then it occurred to me – what if I could get my wedding dress made? This would be the perfect opportunity!
I was so excited with the prospect of having a seamstress that can make my dress dreams come true, but then reality set in because there may not be any available during my trip because they would be on Tet holidays which is Vietnam’s biggest cultural celebration.
I honestly didn’t know where to start looking for the dressmaker. All I had on my side was a stack of ripped out pages from several bridal magazines and print outs of my favourite wedding dresses from Google images.
Lucky for me, my future in laws are professional tailors - so they were able to help me get my dress sorted when we found and went to see an expert bridal seamstress that specialized in wedding dresses.
I had my future in-laws as well as my then fiancée come along to the appointment with the bridal seamstress. I brought an image printout of what type of dress that I wanted made, and all hopes for this route were positive before we entered her store.
I was elated when I finally found a custom dress maker who could make my dream gown come to life.
The dressmaker lady was kind and patient as she sat me down to ask a series of questions, listened carefully to understand more clearly what it was exactly that made up my vision in regards to this special day.
She pulled out a gigantic file from the bookshelf behind her desk and placed it on the table in front of me. “This is the lace availability for the next six months” she advised.
I was amazed at such variety as I flipped over each pocket, each filled with beautiful fabrics that made my heart skip a beat! I’d never seen such a variety of lace before. I was mesmerized by the colours, patterns and textures. As she pulled out each pocket for me to look at – it seemed like some kind of treasure trove had opened up before me with every possible lace fabric type imaginable.
I went through all the wedding dress details with the dressmaker as well as have my in laws input. Being surrounded by professionals gave me a lot of reassurance – the consultation, the advice and suggestions affirmed that I was making the right decision with getting my dress made.
I consulted with my dressmaker to make sure that the design would be perfect for me, and then sought out advice from my in-laws about the design as well as alterations on my dress.
Surrounded by experts who have been doing this forever, I felt decidedly confident throughout the whole process. The consultation reassured me that I was making good decisions when it came to getting my gown made!
I was brimming with excitement as I couldn’t wait to see my dress!
My wedding dress was booked in to get made; it would take three weeks for my custom gown to be finished but this is because it’s a result of placing my order over the Chinese New Year (most businesses are closed for ten days to celebrate with their family). Generally, locals get their custom wedding dress between seven to ten days!
I don't have anything else that's been customized for me before and so didn’t know what to expect from this experience. But it turned out great!
It wasn't stressful or difficult in any way - all very quick and easy-going as a matter of fact.
I was a little bit anxious as I wouldn’t see the completed dress until my in laws bring it home back to Perth in three weeks’ time. Knowing that someone out there is going through all sorts just so they can make one specific person happy made everything worth it.
The bridal stores in Ho Chi Minh City could not have been more diverse. I was able to go into any one of them and get a dress off the rack, but I love the idea of getting my wedding dress custom made, it just resonated with me more to be a part of that experience.
When my in laws came back to Perth from Vietnam, they called me within days of their return just so I could check out the gown.
When I saw my wedding dress, I was overwhelmed with delight and happiness.

My wedding dress turned out better than expected because all these different factors came into play.
The craftsmanship was faultless and the turnaround time for getting it done was only two weeks which really blew me away by the dressmaking speed. The price tag was certainly affordable and reasonable - all around an excellent experience.

Bridal boutiques in Ho Chi Minh City are aplenty; each has its own unique offering depending where your priorities lie (for example, price point). In the city center location there are bridal designer stores catering exclusively for tourist brides with deep pockets-or at least enough.
For those who are looking for quality yet affordably priced wedding dresses, the difficulty lies in knowing where to find them. You would be hard pressed to find a good quality dressmaker at reasonable prices unless you know where to look and who has such services available.
My custom made wedding gown was perfect in every way; created and tailored to my measurements. The fabric looked like something I dreamed about – absolutely beautiful with intricate beading work that couldn't have been done better by a professional tailor anywhere else at such an affordable price.
You might be wondering how much I saved with my wedding dress.I saved at least $2k by getting my dress custom made. I feel like the luckiest bride in town!
With that considerable saving, I was able to contribute that money into another wedding expenditure – because as we know, weddings are not cheap!
I had never experienced an in-person experience like this before, but I couldn’t have been more impressed with the quality of my custom made wedding dress. It was a quick, easy and stress free process that left me feeling totally satisfied!
In order to get the best quality in terms of final product, price and service you’d need to find the right bridal store or dressmaker.
The seamstress's workmanship was impeccable, making my wedding dress dreams a reality and made me feel amazing on my wedding day.
I will never hesitate to get anything else custom made because it saved me so much time and money - not mention all the unnecessary hassle!

]]>Are you a bride that just loves the minimalist style? You are after a wedding dress that speaks of refined elegance, beauty and sophistication?
Contrary to belief, a simple wedding dress can truly make a big statement on your wedding day. The beauty and charm of a simple wedding dress is usually the derivative from luxurious fabrics and clean silhouettes that come together to create an effortlessly refined, modern bridal gown that is easy to wear and looks ravishingly gorgeous.
Some brides steer away from simple wedding dresses because they believe or perhaps their bridal party, family members and friends may have pitched advice that a simple bridal gown is just “too plain” for the bride on the most special day of her life. But if you’re a badass bride that want to stay true to your minimalist roots, go ahead and opt for the simple wedding dress – however if you want to incorporate a bit more detail to jazz up the simplicity of a wedding gown, below are our top tips.
What type of wedding are simple wedding dresses suitable for?
Simple Wedding Dresses Styling & Shopping Top Tips
1. Think About Your Accessories
You will have your engagement ring but have you considered incorporating other jewellery pieces to wear on your special day? With your gown being a simple wedding dress, you will have a lot of leeway as to what type of accessories you can opt for without overwhelming the look of your wedding dress.
It’s important to remember to carefully pick one or two accessory pieces to just elevate your simple wedding dress look without overwhelming your minimalist style.
2. Have A Statement Element On Your Wedding Gown
A statement element of your wedding dress can be anything that takes your dress to the next level including;
To keep your wedding dress in line with the minimalist style, it is important to only incorporate one statement element into your wedding dress look.
3. Opt For Mixed Fabrics
Incorporating two types of fabrics in a refined and classic silhouette can really produce an amazing look for simple wedding dresses. For example, the combination of lace and matte silk crepe fabric together is so heavenly with your dress canvas being the silk crepe material and lace accents or trimmings to elevate your simple wedding dress look. The lace accents or detailing can be anything at the bodice or even your dress’s hem.
With a simple wedding dress, if you’ve selected a fabric such as polyester satin or matte silk crepe, the addition of soft tulle or organza such as an overlay over your base canvas fabric can create a magical and ethereal look.
There are plenty of options to mix and match fabrics and you can customize the fabric combination to really suit your own style and preference.
4. Choose A Dramatic Veil
If your wedding dress has a clean silhouette with minimal detailing on the bodice and skirt, you can opt for a dramatic veil to really give your bridal look that extra appeal. Your simple wedding gown serves as a gorgeous canvas and there are several different options for your veil including embroidered lace edging on the veil hem, floral appliques on the veil, multi layers or delicate tulle etc.
With a simple wedding dress, a statement veil can really be the absolute stunning finish to your bridal look. Furthermore, with your beautifully minimal dress canvas, you won’t be fighting for detail as opposed to a wedding dress that has a lot of detail and elements which thereby narrows down the design options of the veil.
Depending on your personal preference, a cathedral length veil with detailing can look absolutely breath taking against your simple wedding gown.
5. Ensure The Perfect Tailored Fit Of Your Wedding Dress
Regardless of what silhouette or what your wedding dress may look like, a perfect fit to your body is unquestionably a must to ensure you look very best. You could have an absolutely stunning wedding dress with all the details, bells and whistles and yet if the fit isn’t right for your body, you can bet that the dress won’t look as flattering on you as if you had it perfectly tailored to suit all your individual curves and bring out your best features. Furthermore, a well-tailored fit wedding dress will elevate your look to a much more refined and designer look than otherwise.
Simple wedding dresses are remarkably chic, elegant with a feel of modern fresh style that never goes out of style. Sometimes less is more - you can look incredibly beautifully with a simple wedding gown. Incorporate our tips mentioned above and you’re on your way to getting a beautifully dream simple wedding dress that will truly radiate your bridal beauty and style on your wedding day.

The CoVid-19 pandemic caused an abrupt and unexpected halt to many brides who had planned a 2020 wedding with many bridal stores being unable to deliver the wedding dresses that had been ordered for the brides. Furthermore, with the CoVid-19 restrictions being lifted for the state of Western Australia in July – many brides have planned for end of year 2020 weddings. Many bridal stores are still unable to work with the short lead time in getting in wedding dresses for the brides, which can cause addition stress for brides.
While it may seem like a huge (and almost impossible) task to get a wedding dress last minute that you will love, you actually have many options as long as you’re willing to be flexible and comprise a bit.
We will be sharing general information as to what you can expect at other bridal stores as well as what we can do for you as we pride ourselves as being a little bit progressive to the typical bridal shop.
1. Be Open Minded & Flexible With Your Last Minute Wedding Dress
Don’t stress…remain calm – you will be able to find a gorgeous last minute wedding dress that would suit you nicely and within your budget. Maybe you may not get the exact wedding dress that you have always envisioned you would get married in, but you could probably get pretty close. For example, you may be after a heavily beaded and highly detailed wedding dress but considering the limited time frame, you may have to opt for a style that is similar but with a little less than what you originally wanted.
2. Off The Rack Wedding Dresses
Not all bridal stores offer off the rack wedding dresses but the stores that do will likely have only a small collection, meaning that you will be a bit limited with choice. You can try to call around to the stores first and ask them the type of wedding dress styles and sizes available that they have off the rack to give you an idea. This would help save you time as you would only go out to the stores that have availability of bridal dresses that you are looking for.
3. Sample Wedding Dresses
Many bridal stores have a selection of sample wedding dresses for sale that comprise of last or a few seasons old wedding gown styles or discontinued styles. These bridal gowns are usually used in store as sample dresses for other brides to try on so you can expect to see some wear and tear or imperfections on the dress. If you are willing to overlook these and forgo an absolute flawless gown, you can bag a pretty good price for some of these dresses and of course be able to take the dress home with you immediately.
With the issue of wear and tear and imperfections, some wedding dresses may be far from pristine condition as it may be been tried on many times so you may have to consider getting your gown professional cleaner before wear.
If your dress has some dressmaking imperfections such as beads missing or falling off, rips etc, a local seamstress or tailor can help you out with this.
Generally sample wedding dresses may not come in your exact size so you will need to factor in alteration costs on top of your dress price. The sample size is usually 12-18 and if you fall within this size bracket, you may be in luck. That said, even though the dress may fit you, you may still need some final alteration tweaks to fit you perfectly.
If you have found a sample gown that you love but if you need to get it altered down by several sizes, be aware that it may not look what you had envisioned due to the dress shape and silhouette change. Furthermore, if the dress has a lot of beading and embellishments that require alteration work to rework the style, it may add a lot more to your overall cost.
4. Rush Wedding Dresses
Some bridal stores (and also depending on the designer of the dress) may be able to order in your wedding dress within a shorter lead time, but you would have to pay the additional charges of getting a “rush order” wedding dress. The standard recommended time frame to order your dress and for it to arrive in store at most bridal shops is anywhere between 6-9 months. The “rush order” usually applies for wedding dresses ordered with a 3-4 months’ notice.
The rush order fees depends on how “rushed” your dress order is but usually accounts for anywhere between 10-30% of your dress price.
That said, even though you are willing to pay the rush fees for your dress to be ordered in quickly, some designers may not accept the order if it is less than their specified rush turnaround time.
5. Order Online A Ready-Made Simple Wedding Dress
If you are a minimalist kind of bride or prefer more simple wedding dresses, you can likely get a wedding dress online within a very short time frame. The only downside is that you can’t see the dress in person or try it on before you buy - but if the store has a return policy and you’re willing to take this route, then you’re on the road to getting a wedding dress.
The only issue with this is that if you are a bride that wants a more "bridal" look kind of wedding gown with such details as intricate lace, details etc, it might not be possible with online websites.
6. Buy A Second Hand Wedding Dress
If you’re not opposed to wear a pre-loved wedding dress, you can search online at websites such as Still White or Facebook Marketplace or Bridal/Wedding Facebook groups that have no shortages of brides selling their wedding dress or even unworn gowns.
Remember that second-hand gowns have usually be tailored or altered to fit the bride so sometimes it may not be possible to be re-altered to fit you. If possible, it is advised to leave yourself some time to get your alterations done to fit and suit you.
7. Rent A Wedding Dress
Some bridal stores will offer a rental service on their wedding dresses but bear in mind that renting a wedding dress will mean that you are not able to alter it to fit you so you may have to be flexible with trying a few different styles to find the one that suit and fits you best.
8. Getting Your Wedding Dress Made By A Local Dressmaker
Some dressmakers and professional tailors may be willing to take on the job of making you a custom wedding dress. Depending on your bridal gown style, the fabrics that can be sourced, the time you have until your wedding date and their skill level – this is a possible option that you can look into.
Generally speaking and based on the above options, you do have several options to consider – it comes down to how willing you are to take on the available options.

]]>If you are looking for affordable bridesmaid dresses in Perth WA, let us break it down as to how we can help you.
The bridesmaid dresses that we offer in our exclusive bridesmaid dresses collection are reasonably priced starting at $199 - $369. Obviously the price of the dress is reflected by the dress particulars such as how detailed the dress is (beading, lace etc), the fabric of the dress etc.
We only choose to source our materials from high quality fabric vendors and this can be reflected when the final bridesmaid dress is made. We choose specific fabrics for the bridesmaid dresses in our collection to ensure that it carries the design beautifully, as well as being flattering and comfortable.
Of course there are cheaper versions of fabrics that we can opt for but we uphold our high standards. Obviously, cheaper fabrics means it will also make the final dress look cheaper – which is an area we do not want to explore.
All of our bridesmaid dresses are made to order, and handmade by our dressmakers – not mass produced. This means that we only have a few samples of the dress design in a selected colour and sizing. This is for you to see, feel and try on the dress. The bridesmaid dresses are made to order in which you are able to pick your desired colour from our colour swatches and order in the size you require for your bridesmaids.
For the dresses in our exclusive bridesmaid dresses collection, we offer customization to the dress design (if it is a minor redesign such as different straps, different neckline) free of charge. This customization option is great when you have different sized bridesmaids that may want or need specific adjustments to the design to ensure the best fit and flattering to their individual body shape.

We understand that not everyone bridesmaid will be able to fit perfectly into a standard size 8, 10, 12 etc. Some may have a larger bust that may not fit on the top part of the dress but fit perfectly at the bottom in a particular size. Some others may find that they are the opposite so it makes it finding the standard sizing a bit difficult to work with.
This is where custom sizing options is a fantastic choice. Your bridesmaids will be measured and the bridesmaid dresses will be made to their measurements rather than the standard sizing recommended.

The exact price will vary according to the dress design, fabrics selected and if the dress has any embellishment features such as beading, lace trims and appliques etc. Generally speaking, the custom bridesmaid dresses we have made for past customers vary between $250.00 - $450.00; with the average price sitting around $329.00. ]]>Read on to find out how the Coronavirus will affect you if you’re a bride-to-be on the lookout for your dream wedding dress in 2020.
]]>
For most brides, shopping around for their wedding dress was probably a lengthy process, time consuming and most likely stressful at some point in the journey. Now, imagine that you’ve finally found the dress of your dreams, paid a deposit on it and waiting excitedly for the call from your bridal store to let you know of it’s arrival. So the call happens and it’s not all sunshine news as you would expect. Instead, you’re told that the likelihood of your wedding dress arriving…will not.
Your mind will probably be racing with questions and what will happen to your special day when you’re a bride with no wedding dress!
An article published by the ABC News, a Melbourne bride to be – Marina D’Arcy is due to get married in August this year but recently told by the bridal boutique she ordered her dress from via an Instagram message that the store would no longer be accepting “rush orders” for bridal gowns due to the coronavirus having a sweeping impact of manufacturing facilities in China where the wedding gowns are made.
The bridal and wedding dress industry is in panic mode as the deadly outbreak is affecting the entire supply chain of wedding gowns – from the manufacturing of the gowns right down to the origin of fabrics – being in China. Bridal store owners are working with panic stricken brides to combat the possibility of the bride not getting her dress at all by the time she needs it for her wedding. The likelihood is very real.
Amongst other commodities, China is a leading producer of wedding dresses. According to the American Bridal and Prom Industry Association, 80% of the world’s western styles wedding gowns are produced in China.
With the population in China encompassing more than 760 million people, more than half of the country’s population have been in some sort of home lockdown which has resulted in factories being shut down across the country. This means no wedding dresses are being produced and many bridal stores around the world cannot order in any new gowns for customers.
It has been reported that for some bridal store’s made to order dresses, the delivery time has doubled to 6 months from the typical 3 months.
Although some factories are gradually commencing operation again, it is at a snail’s pace - still not full speed manufacturing as usual due to the backlog of orders. Ships are departing the Chinese ports with only 10% filled and many shipments cancelled as reported by the Wall Street Journal.
What this means is that for some brides, they may just be lucky enough to receive their wedding dress in time if their wedding is perhaps later in the year - giving the factories some time to play catch up.
On the other side of the equation, for brides whose wedding is only a few short months away – all might not be as optimistic.
Bridal stores are functioning under high ambiguity with updates on when the manufacturers will resume operation, their production schedules and lead times.
So what does this mean for brides having weddings before the year’s end?
Brides would need to consider alternative stores that can accommodate rush orders or are manufactured in countries not heavily affected by the outbreak of the COVID-19 disease.
ABC New’s article further goes on to state that Ms D’Arcy had assumed that resident businesses made the dresses locally. Truth be told, many designer bridal gowns that are in the affordable range are made by factories across China as this keeps costs down for both the brand as well as the customer. Almost every bridal store will carry brands from designers that offer ranges that cater to more price conscious brides and that isn’t expected to be possible if it’s from bridal brands from the United States or European countries. Brands imported from these countries often come with expensive price tags.
For brides that have their wedding dates locked in, consider making contingency options to tackle the worst case scenario that you are not able to get your wedding dress in on time or if bridal stores are not accepting orders of the dress you are after in the time frame that you require it.
What’s more, it’s not just wedding gowns, there’s also the supply of bridesmaid dresses that would ultimately be impacted as well. Many of these bridal gown factories are also manufacturers of bridesmaid dresses, formal dresses and prom dresses.
For most bridal stores, the general lead time required to order a wedding dress in for you is between 8-12 months with some stores being a bit more flexible and ask that you place your order 6-8 months and also allow 2 months for alterations.
This is a long lead time for your wedding dress and you’re probably not likely to be able to get your dress in time if your wedding falls under the 8 month time frame. This means that you fall into the category of “rush orders” which are for orders of wedding dresses under 6 months – generally 4-6 months from the time you place the order to the time the dress is expected to arrive into store. Rush orders typically come with a “rush fee” that is an additional cost on top of your wedding dress. Each bridal store charges at their discretion however the average rush fee is anywhere between 20-30% of the cost of the wedding dress.
This puts many brides in a pickle and stress sets in because some bridal stores won’t accept the orders due to the time frame as their designers set a minimum order date and the additional cost on top of the wedding dress which would impact the more budget conscious brides.
So what are the options if you just cannot avoid the rush order?
Many of the larger bridal store retailers are great if you are after designers or a specific designer and looking for a wide variety of different styles however they normally require 8-12 months order time. Of course, these bridal stores will be out of the question if you require your wedding dress much sooner so you can try smaller bridal stores that carry their own brand and/or bridal boutiques that accept bespoke wedding dresses or custom made wedding gowns. Of course depending on how intricate the detailing of your wedding dress is, the time frame to get your gown finished will vary.
At Envious Bridal, our standard lead time from the time you order your wedding dress to the time you receive it for your first fitting is 3 months! Many brides are often pleasantly surprised at our fast production and delivery time. We’re told that many bridal shops would barely consider a request for orders under 4 months and if so, the rush fee is very significant sum on top of the wedding dress.
So how can we make it happen that your wedding dress is made and delivered within such a short time? Because we aren’t bound to a specific designer’s minimum order time which means we have the flexibility to rotate our orders and assign the appropriate dressmaker to make your wedding dress – AND without the hefty rush fee charges.
What’s more, we can also offer even more rush times for your wedding dress to be made under 2 months…or even 1 month. If you’re reading this and wondering how you could be in such a situation where you’d require a wedding gown so urgently, you’d be surprised at the drama and emergency situations which brides encounter and seek desperate assistance.
To give you a few examples;
At Envious Bridal, we can help brides in such a situation with our custom made wedding dress service. A few selected bridal stores will offer some of their bridal gowns off the rack but generally would not unless they are running a sample sale which is not held all the time but during a specific promotion period. Search around and do your research on the bridal stores that do offer gowns off the rack and call ahead to see if they stock your size.
Envious Bridal offer all our bridal dresses in our bridal collection to be purchased off the rack which is perfect if you’ve tried on a gown that you love and want/need to take the dress home immediately. Alternatively, if you love the dress but the dress is not available in your size, we can process a rush order to have the same dress made for you in your desired size…all within a short turnaround time!
You can find pre-loved wedding gown retailers or stores online via Facebook pages or Facebook wedding dress groups or forums. There are an abundance of past brides that are willing and happy to sell their wedding dress.
Although many brides will shy away from wanting to buy their wedding dress online due to the fact that you can’t see the actual dress or try it on causes a great deal of hesitation – totally understandable. That said, some brides take the leap of faith. Perhaps not the highest or most preferred option but it’s on the table for consideration.
The coronavirus is killing bridal dreams across the world. It’s causing panic everywhere for all those involved in the wedding dress business. Bridal shops everywhere – spanning around the world are not taking on orders for brides requiring wedding dresses less than 12 years due to the uncertainty surrounding when the wedding gown factories will and can resume its normal production again.
Optimism is low that even when the factories are operating again it will be able to deliver as previously scheduled, meaning delays with current orders and even longer lead times for new wedding dress orders.
With daily reports of the increase rate of spread, there is no indication that the covid 19 disease will subside anytime soon; this imposes a looming obstacle for bridal stores as the availability of wedding dresses will be very limited and brides will be left with very little option as they shop around.
If you’re recently engaged, there are widespread industry recommendations to order your wedding dress as soon as you can – even if your wedding isn’t until 2021. The delay gaps is predicted to only get bigger and longer so the best thing you can do to ensure you get your order in early.
Amid this global wedding dress crisis, here at Envious Bridal we are confident we can still help brides get in their perfect wedding dress without the long (and now delayed) production lead time and shipping interruptions.
As a bride you don’t need any further undue stress, so get in touch with us now so we can help you take the subsequent steps to finding your dream gown – or get your perfect wedding dress custom made.]]>The latest high profile star is Hailey Bieber (formerly Hayley Baldwin) with her custom made gown by her friend and fellow designer, Virgil Abloh.
